Charles Fillmore, co-founder of the Unity movement said, “In bringing forth a manifestation of God’s abundant supply, take the first step by saying, ‘Let there be light;’ that is, let there be understanding. You must have a clear perception of the principle back of the proposition ‘God will provide.’”
In many New Thought circles, centers, churches, and meetups there is a great deal of emphasis placed on manifesting and demonstrating and that is both what could be called good and bad (using for linguistic convenience not as a judgment). The reason I say good is because manifesting and demonstrating are the outcomes of prayer work; they are the harvest we intend to reap. The reason, however that I say bad is because many of us get so caught up on the stuff aspect of manifesting that we lose sight of the spiritual power inherent of the Divine in, as, and with us. We cannot see the forest for the trees. Material stuff becomes the goal rather than awakening, serving, transforming and remembering.
I have often heard it said, and having recently run across this concept again in the book “Super Rich: A Guide to Having It All” by Russell Simmons, I find it perfectly timed to mention it here. So I will paraphrase what he says in his book, “As Spiritual beings you can have all the stuff you desire however once you realize the Truth of who and what you are, the stuff is no longer important and you may in fact decide you no longer want the stuff. And if you still do want it and do in fact manifest it, you will use it rather than allowing it to use you.”
Why do farmers sow seeds? Yes, to reap a harvest of fruits and vegetables but why do they do that? Is it simply to say that they have done it? Is it simply to prove that it can be done? Is it only to make money? Or is it the goal and intention of a True farmer to sow, in order to reap, in order to feed people; in other words, to serve the community?
While many of us seek to manifest cars, money, fancy homes and such the greater question that is really where the art of reaping comes into play is by finding the answer to the question of why do I want what I want? What does having that car give me? What does having the fancy house give me? What does having the money give me?
Behind every material item there is an emotional something that we seek to have.
We seek a sense of freedom, independence, security, joy, comfort, even love and many times we seek these feelings from the things we want!
This is why people hoard or impulse shop or crave stuff, to fill an emotional void. Manifesting stuff will leave us sad and broken as it did King Midas who got his wish but lost that which was most prized to him, his daughter when he turned her to gold!
If we find that we desire the car to feel free, good, begin to find where and how you can feel free in your life now and you will find that the manifestation of the car will come faster and not only that but as I said once you get it, if you even still want it, you will find that you drive it and it does not drive you!
If you want to reap apples; you sow apple seeds not watermelon, right? Likewise, if you want to reap a sense of joy you must sow joy. This is why it is said, if you want a supportive friend then BE a supportive friend! It starts with each of us and with the state of our consciousness, our beliefs, and our paradigms. If we believe we can find love in a new necklace, or find friends in a fat money filled wallet, then we will reap based upon the seeds we are sowing. Choose wisely.
And I may have mentioned this once or twice before (smile), if you ever want to know what you believe, what your paradigms are, or what your state of consciousness is, look around you at the life you live, the people you are with, and the emotions felt daily; these are the things you are reaping from what you have sown yesterday.
Not to fear however, you can change your harvest any time you choose… like right now and it begins with what Charles Fillmore said, “You must have a clear perception of the principle back of the proposition ‘God will provide.’” And the Divine Source will work with you, in you, as you, just as It does with all of creation to grow what you have planted, to manifest what you have intended, to demonstrate what you have envisioned!
