A great question was asked the other day during a church service in Rock Hill, South Carolina. As life’s challenges come what will your perspective be?
I think daily we are confronted with this question as we deal with financial issues, health issues and relationship issues. Our perspective on life is really important to reaching those that do not have a relationship with Christ. Why is that you may ask?
We need to realize that daily those around us hurting and with no hope are watching how we handle life and what is thrown at us. Do you respond to the circumstances or react to them? Do you cling to Christ or do you strike out at Him? Do you move through the circumstances as a victor in Christ or as a victim of this world?
God desires us to keep an eternal perspective on life, by focusing on the circumstances we are taking our eyes off of Christ. During our struggles we need to bring to mind and heart the word of God for that much needed comfort and encouragement:
You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. SELAH
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the
Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a
future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
The one thing I have learned over the years as I walk in faith is that God’s way is meaningful while man’s way is empty and meaningless. What does that mean in this discussion? God’s desire is that we trust Him in ALL things big and small. That we lean upon Him for our answers and provision, not out own understanding.
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.
The LORD is their strength,
And He is the saving refuge of His anointed.
God desires us to reflect the Fruits of the Spirit as we go through things in our life. That is a huge order however with the power of the Holy Spirit it is possible.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
The beautiful thing about God is we are given a choice, we have a free will to allow Him to control and guide us or allow the world to do so. I pray today that you will allow the Holy Spirit of God to be in charge and let Him give you what you need to stand during your challenges. Oh, I know personally it is so much easier to say it than to live it, however I also know personally the difference in my life, my family’s life and those watching when I have trusted God and stood in faith (totally leaning on Him) through so pretty serious challenges in life. It can be done if YOU WANT TO.
I want to encourage each of you reading this article to trust the Lord, reach out to Him and give Him your hurts, challenges and circumstances. He will be faithful to answer you…
Believe with all your heart and stand/walk in faith my friend.
