This government shutdown is embarrassing for Washington. What we have here is an impasse on behalf of grown folks, content with pointing fingers at each other. The government is shutdown, basically because the President of the United States refuses to grant a waiver for the individual mandate.
Republicans, as best anybody can tell, is looking at the big picture, while Democrats are looking at a small frame of a picture that getting to be annoying to a public that knows better. The president, well, he is not even looking at the picture at all, he does not have to negotiate with Congress, remember?
The big picture is not at all complicated. The president and Democrats both know, without the individual mandate, the illegitimate health care won’t survive. The individual mandate, paid by the individual for a year, is the foundation of the law. The young pay more and the elderly pay less. Simple?
The apostle Paul said it best, ‘When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child, when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways’ (1 Cor. 13:11).
The President, in his normal childish fashion is roaming the country, trying to sell a dead horse, as we in Texas like to say. Like a child who’s long overdue for a nap, he consistently blame Republicans for trying to dismantle ‘HIS’ health care law, which would explain why he don’t have have to negotiate. It’s ‘HIS’ law and not the people’s.
Republicans point to the lie of this health care law reducing insurance premiums by $2,500 dollars. It increases premiums by almost that amount, but now, delaying this disaster for a year will only put it on life support. You do know, there was basically, nothing wrong with Health Care in America. Good old fashion competition across state lines and borders would have tackled any problems immediately.
Democrats, if you pay close attention to the words that come from their kindergarten prepared scripts, always use one particular word when referring to Obamacare, and that’s ‘AFFORDABLE.’
How long have the country heard that word? How many in the country knows that this health care is anything but, ‘AFFORDABLE,’ yet they keep using the word.
