The following list are three movies that should be on the must watch list for Halloween night after trick or treating, or instead of it. They range from family friendly to make sure the kids are in bed so they don’t have nightmares, in terms of scariness.
The first movie is “Hocus Pocus.” The film stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, a trio of witches who were killed by an angry mob on Halloween in 1693. Before the sisters are hanged however Winifred uses their spell book to cast a spell that will resurrect them when a virgin lights their black flamed candle on Halloween.
Three centuries later a teenager named Max moves to Salem with his family. After being humiliated by school bullies and having to take his sister Dani trick-or-treating, where the bullies humiliate him again, he ends up at the door of his crush Allison. While at Allison’s house Dani asks her about the Sandersons so Allison takes them to the cottage where the witches used to live that has been turned into a museum, which has been shut down.
While at the cabin Max lights the black flamed candle which resurrects the Sandersons. Do the Sandersons get their revenge on Salem? Do the kids keep the Sandersons at bay and defeat them? To find out you can check out this family friendly movie from Disney.
The second movie is “Repo! The Genetic Opera.” “Repo! The Genetic Opera” is a newer film that is a musical. It takes place in the future where body parts can be repossessed if a person fails to make a payment on what they owe. The repo man is a surgeon who basically kills the person as he rips the organ/ body part that has not been paid for.
Also in this desolate future a highly addictive drug has found its way onto the streets called Zydrate. There is a street version of the drug that people make from the fluids of dead people. This movie has a couple of storylines all twisted together and stars Anthony Stewart Head, Paris Hilton, Alexa Vega, and Paul Sorvino.
The final movie is the original “Child’s Play.” This film is about a murderer who uses voodoo to transfer his soul into a doll when he is mortally wounded. The doll, called Chucky, with the murderer’s soul is given to a young boy named Andy for his 6th birthday.
Chucky learns that he is becoming human from being in the dolls body after he is hurt, his voodoo teacher tells him (after much pain from a voodoo doll) that to get out of the dolls body he must possess the body of the first person he revealed his secret to. That person is Andy, so Chucky goes to retrieve Andy from the mental hospital to put his soul in Andy’s body. Does he manage to do it? To answer that question check out the film.
