This Friday’s new movies kick off November the right way, with the Thanksgiving-themed “Free Birds” and the big visual effects film “Ender’s Game”. Read about those and this weekend’s other new theatrical releases below, and leave a comment letting us know what you’ll be watching.
“Ender’s Game”: In this sci-fi adventure directed by Gavin Hood and based on the book by Orson Scott Card, the military recruits brilliant young Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) to a battle school in orbit above Earth, looking to use him to save humanity from destruction by an invading alien race. Runtime: 114 minutes. Rated PG-13 for some violence, sci-fi action and thematic material.
“Free Birds”: This animated comedy directed by Jimmy Hayward follows two turkeys, Reggie (Owen Wilson) and Jake (Woody Harrelson), who must put aside their differences and work together when they go back in time to the first Thanksgiving, assigned with the task of changing history and taking turkey off the menu for good. Available for viewing in 3D. Runtime: 91 minutes. Rated PG for some action/peril and rude humor.
“Last Vegas”: This comedy directed by Jon Turteltaub stars Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline as Billy, Paddy, Archie, and Sam, best friends since childhood who are now in their sixties. When Billy gets engaged, they decide to head to Vegas to throw him a bachelor party, but they quickly realize that Vegas has changed as much as they have. Runtime: 105 minutes. Rated PG-13 for sexual content and language.
