Looking for some new movies to check out this weekend? The last weekend of summer features a couple tense thrillers and a concert movie following the popular band One Direction. “Closed Circuit” (in theaters Wednesday, August 28): This thriller directed by John Crowley stars Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall as Martin and Claudia, former lovers who work for the department of defense and are forced to work together on a dangerous terrorism case. Runtime: 96 minutes. Rated R for language and brief violence.
“Getaway”: This thriller directed by Courtney Solomon stars Ethan Hawke as Brent Magna, a former race car driver who teams up with a teen tech expert (Selena Gomez) when his wife is kidnapped. Runtime: 90 minutes. Rated PG-13 for intense action, violence, and mayhem throughout, some rude gestures, and language.
“One Direction: This Is Us”: Directed by Morgan Spurlock, this documentary tells the backstory of the boy band One Direction, who started out on the X-Factor and went on to tour around the world. Live concert footage accompanies the band members talking about their lives, then and now. Runtime: 92 minutes. Rated PG for mild language.
