Wine We Well is a real gem of a find with just one location in the trendy lifestyle mall Crystal Design Center. With two levels of inside dining, and relaxing courtyard seating, Wine We Well has a chilled out and romantic vibe. The venue has a slightly retro feel, with a high gloss black and white color scheme, but the service is impeccable and they stand apart because of their affordable prices and tasty food. The concept is simple; they are offering non-traditional French fusion food that is easy to eat. Everything on the menu is priced under $31.93USD (1000Baht) except for the caviar tower, and the average dish is priced under $15.96USD (500Baht), with most appetizers around $7.98USD (250Baht). They have a decent selection of old and new world wines by the bottle with the average cost at $38.32USD (1200Baht)per bottle. They only have 3 wines available by the glass, but they do have a daily Happy Hour from 17:00 to 18:30 hours with “buy one, get one free “on selected cocktails.
Start your meal off with the Pan Seared USA Scallop w/ Truffle Emulsion and a chilled glass of Divici Prosecco Extra Dry DOC from Italy. The enormous scallop is perfectly seared and the truffle sauce is a luxurious addition. It is served with a refreshing micro-green salad for texture and the crisp dry wine is a nice balance for the dish. Next try the Pan Seared Foie Gras w/ Caramelized Pear Pearl & Spiced Red Wine Jelly Reduction. The foie gras is handled with the utmost respect as the generous portion is well seasoned, expertly seared and served while still slightly pink in the middle. The jelly is very sweet and is a nice match although overall the dish could have benefited form an acid such as balsamic vinegar. Next try the ultimate Boston Lobster Bisque w/ Cream. This is one of the best versions of this I have had in a while. It’s very rich with an aromatic flavor of lobster throughout the dish. The addition of a whole lobster claw and extra chunks of lobster meat make it an over indulgence at the highest level. To make the experience all the more special try it with a glass of Mc Manis Chardonnay, 2011 from California. They also get extra points for the delightful tableside service of dramatically pouring the soup into the bowl. For your main course opt for the Roasted Wagyu Rib Eye w/ Sautéed Mushrooms, Potato Dauphinoise & Bordelaise Sauce. The marbling score on the beef is 6/7 and it is extremely tender and juicy. Once again the meat and side dishes are all well-seasoned and every element on the plate complements one another. For dessert I recommend the Warm Cheese Tart w/ Fresh Strawberry & Vanilla Ice Cream. This is a sort of baked cheese cake that has a nice density without being overly sweet. It is a nice end to a very satisfying meal.
Wine We Well is surprising on several levels. At first glance, it is easy to lump it in with all the other average eateries at the mall, but in fact Chef Siwametr has a real expertise at food handling and he cooks every dish to perfection. The service is also first class and om par with what you would find at some five star hotels. The location is a bit off the beaten track, but its well worth a visit as everyone who works at this restaurant is invested in making sure you have a wonderful dining experience.
