Wonderful memories of visits to the Willows in Palm Springs dance in my head while writing about the iconic Bed & Breakfast’s hot, new special. Not normally a fan of B&B’s the Willows changed my mind the minute we stepped in our gorgeous room, and later during the gourmet breakfast that comes with the room rate.

The popular celebrity hideaway was originally built in 1925 as a private home. When it opened as a hotel the place attracted a then Hollywood star pack that included silent screen’s Marion Davies (mistress of William Randolph Hearst), Albert Einstein and his wife (whose favorite bench still stands on a knoll at the inn), and others.
Today the eight-room facility still hosts a revolving door of celebrities and dignitaries who appreciate the privacy it affords far from the prying cameras of pushy paparazzi. very room is uniquely decorated and a looker. We bedded down once in the Marion Davies Room, and loved the large fireplace (which kept us warm on a cold winter’s desert night). There’s also a two-person claw foot tub (which we also enjoyed) and private balcony.
The Einstein’s Garden Room, where the famed genius hid out with his wife, is cradled Art Deco elegance with French doors that swing open to reveal a private balcony overlooking a waterfall. For more information on what to do in Palm Springs go to www.palmspringsoasis.com.
