Get those home entertainment systems ready! Some big spectacle-driven films are due for release in October, primed to dazzle your eyes and tickle your eardrums! From classic epics, comedy trilogies, 3D bonanzas and one terror-filled flick just in time for Halloween, this top 5 list is a must for Blu-ray and DVD fanatics. Read the list to discover why…
The Wizard of Oz 3D
One of the greatest cinematic classics of all-time gets a prestigious high-definition upgrade once again, but this time with a high-tech 3D conversion. The Wizard of Oz may be decades old, but the film continues to dazzle the eye in new ways thanks to this Limited Edition 3D set (also sold as single 3D and 2D Blu-ray editions). Due for release on October 1st.
The Hangover Trilogy
Coinciding with the individual release of The Hangover III (which fizzled at the box-office to end the franchise), comes the complete trilogy set of a truly memorable comedy series. Although the sequels proved to be inferior to the first film’s R-rated comedic genius, the Wolfpack is still an endearing threesome to get into trouble with with each film, making this box set a must-have. The Hangover Trilogy box set will be available on October 8th, loaded with bonus content and great picture and sound.
Pacific Rim 3D
Although it failed to make much impact theatrically, home video fans should give Pacific Rim’s Limited 3D Edition a second chance to blow your senses away. A big sci-fi monster mash-up is perfect for high-definition and director Guillermo Del Toro is a cinematic visionary with this tale of massive robots who battle sea-dwelling aliens on Earth’s battleground. Pacific Rim comes to Blu-ray and DVD on October 15th.
And what would October be without a rock-solid horror film to watch on Halloween? Director James Wan (Insidious, Saw) is the driving force behind this paranormal film about true-life married investigators, The Warrens. The Conjuring proved to be not only a commercial success but also a critical one, very rare for a horror film. This means that horror fans definitely need to indulge when its released on October 22nd.
Monsters and Halloween go hand-in-hand, but not quite like this when Monsters Universtiy, the Disney/Pixar prequel to Monsters Inc. gets released on October 29th for the whole family to enjoy. The story follows how Mike met Sully when the two were studying the ways of how to scare kids effectively. Great family film with lots of heart and laughs. The film comes in separate 3D and 2D Collector’s Editions.
