The Grand Old Party would today appear to be a distant memory because of the takeover by the Tea party in Congress. In the 2010 elections in order to take control of the House, the Republican party sold their soul to the far-right thinking, they could control the new law makers. Unfortunately, three years later it would appear to the public that the tail is wagging the dog.
Gone are the days of Republican leaders screaming for a stronger military, taking care of the poor, or compassionate conservatism principles. It’s now replaced with legislation stripping women’s rights, the right to vote, disrespecting minorities and cutting programs for the poor. The Republican party is so crazy; they’re willing to shutdown the government and default on our debt for the first time in history in order to stop 20 million people from getting health insurance.
To make matters worst they’re led not by a leaders in the house or Senate but by a Canadian born Senator from Texes Ted Cruz. Last year during the Presidential campaign, President Obama’s birth certificate was the talk of the Republican politics. However, when it comes to Cruz, Republicans are willing to follow him to destroy this countries full, faith and credit. The double standards are so obvious nowadays, and conservatives are fundraising without regret.
Why Republicans are following the Tea Party:
Republicans are caving to the Tea Party because of a lack creative ideas. The Bush administration followed the neo-cons leaving moderate Republicans behind, by the end of the Bush administration disastrous record on the two wars, out of control spending and a terrible economic record resulted in Republicans losing their identity.
Republicans would soon have a person they could unit their party around, the first African-American president Barack Obama. Two years later after the after Obamacare/ACA passed and signed into law, The Republican party won a historical landslide victory in the House of Reps in the 2010 midterm elections and Rep. John Boehner was elected Speaker of the House.
The Tea party positions are very clear. They believe in state’s rights and hate the federal government. It would appear that anything that will take down the federal government is a good thing no matter the cost. The only thing the Tea party needs in a gun, and that’s all. People who support the Tea party think this is a new way of governance, but they’re eerily close to the ideas of the south before the Civil War. They too disrespected the federal government because of the election of Lincoln.
Before the Civil War, the south gave the North an ultimatum, either you elect a southerner as President, or they’ll form an army and attack the federal government. This radical move almost destroyed this country with millions dead and billions in debt; the south is still suffering for such a stupid move. Now, fast-forward to 2013 and the Tea Party is threatening to do the same to the country but in a bloodless manner. The Tea party is threatening to completely shutdown the government and default on our bills in order to void President Obama’s signature law Obamacare.
A government shutdown and default would be a disaster to the worlds’ economy. Millions of people would lose everything and poverty would rise quickly, the scary part to this story is does the Tea party believe the facts. This is dangerous for the Republican party.
Will the Republican party survive with the Tea party:
The Republican party in on the verge of being obsolete, their views are too radical for this country, and they only control the House of Reps. Republicans have voted to overturn Obamacare 42 times, cut social programs such as head start, food stamps, welfare, and other much-needed services. However, the real harms are the bills they haven’t passed. Immigration, job bills, infrastructure, tax overhaul, post office and so on. If they really wanted this country to be prosperous, they would’ve passed a few these bills to help the economy recover.
With the Republican/Tea party hoping for the destruction of this country, no one enjoys to root for a person who stands for nothing but hate and corruption. This is why the Republican party is on the way of only being mentioned in history books like the Federalist and the Whigs. This is a guarantee if they don’t expand the tent.
The fact of the matter is the party is truly a dying party with the majority of their voters are baby-boomers. The youth thinks it’s uncool to be a Republican, and they’ve already lost the minority vote, but there is still hope. Republican theme in 2012 was to take back the country but they need to start with their party first. Republicans can kick the Tea party out of their tent and they could take back the party.
The Tea party members are not Republicans but are a radical party with the hopes to destroy this country. The Tea party only has 49 members in Congress and five in the Senate lead by Ted Cruz. Democrats and Republican should work together to eliminate this caucus in order to save our country, but the Republican must strike first. If the Tea party continues to get its way, then just how far away are we from this country being classified as a deadbeat country.
The Civil war in the Republican party has started with many top Republicans blaming Ted Cruz for his defunding Obamacare solutions. Everyone is watching and hopefully the Republican party can take back their party.
