The Austin Jazz Alliance has announced the first ever Texas Jazz Jam Cruise. Jazz Alliance members have been working for the past 6 months on putting together the final touches on the program, activities, musicians and special guests for this first ever Jazz Jam cruise out of Texas. The cruise will sail out of Galveston, Texas, October 5th, 2014.
What started out as an idea to just get a few musicians together to jam has grown to be the “GoTo” event of 2014. The Texas Jazz Jam Cruise will offer something for everyone who attends. To begin with, the Texas Jazz Jam Cruise will be helping out some very worthwhile jazz organizations such as the Austin Jazz Society, Women in Jazz, and the Austin Traditional Jazz Society. Special guests include Dr. James Polk, recipient of the 2013 Jazz Journalists Association and AJA’s Jazz Hero Award.
The Texas Jazz Jam Cruise also gives the jazz musician the perfect opportunity to take a great vacation aboard a fabulous luxury ship. While on vacation, musicians can take in workshops and master classes and if they get in the mood to jam, sit in with some of the best jazz players this side of New Orleans.
