Another month and summer closed up all snug for next year, the local communities now prepare for the overflow of snow birds arriving and looking for things to do while in town. That also means more live music, on more evenings of the week and establishments gearing up for larger crowds.
Locally, things are expanding for season, live music is available now on Tuesday evenings, next it will include Monday and then it’s seven evenings of live music and what to do in order to catch it all? Check in right here and also your favorite band’s Facebook and Reverbnation locations or direct websites for calendars, dates and all events to come!
The Grayson Rogers Band prepares to leave boot prints on the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam stage, in Panama City this coming weekend and they take the show stage on September 28th there…but they are also still in the Southern Original contest, sponsored by Pepsi. Their diligent work to keeping fans engaged and voting took them to the #1 position in fan voting in this competition! Today, they arrived in Panama City to begin this grand journey and will take the Club LaVela stage tonight in another round of this contest in process to become the Southern Original band!
All the best to GRB heading out on the road, safe travels and grand shows! Check out the entire line up for the multi-day Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam right here.
There was another special announcement made concerning a local favorite front man’s return to our local stages and ears rather soon. Push announced that the long awaited return to the stage for the one and only J. Jaye Steele will commence on November 9, 2013! Mr. Steele will take the stage with his mates of Push in the line up for Coconut Festival, in Cape Coral, on November 9th. You may visit the Facebook page for Push for further details at any time and mark your calendars to welcome back one of the greatest voices and souls within our local music menagerie! Come out and let Mr. J know how much we have missed him!

This past weekend brought local gems Before the Fire to the big stage at JetBlue Park when they won their opportunity to open Rockwave Festival this past Saturday for hosts like: Filter, Chevelle, Stone Temple Pilots and Jane’s Addiction! This fan was in the pit with the lens for it all and they did a fabulous set out there in that cooking heat, just loving their time up there and showing everyone what Before the Fire is all about. Original hard rock that let’s you know who just took the stage and this fan welcomes the hard, in your face wave of sound releasing from these fine lads! I hope everyone has checked this band out in the battle of the bands contest and this event…if you have yet to stick your finger in the Fire, please do so immediately!
Before the Fire also played in Sarasota, at Kelly Shaefer’s birthday extravaganza. Keep any eye open and an ear to Sarasota for some possible future engagements up there for Before the Fire and other hard rocking acts like Grey State as well. You may also want to catch up with Jake’s Tavern on Facebook to see what is going on musically. Stones of Madness also take the stage at Jake’s and is always a show to travel for and hope to see all at the next one!
Rockwave Festival was a great way to end the summer around here! Thanks out to all involved again, it was a rather quiet concert series locally this summer and not this scale since Fort Rock came to town, so it is appreciated when the big tents are pitched in our back yards! This fan has been called ‘the kid in the candy store’ with this lens opportunity so close to home, and yes, you may call me ‘Wonka‘! To a fan that grew up in live music on all levels and worked within the industry a little it has to be stated that this was paralell to Disney World for me in my lens and back yard. A bucket list of bands for the Nikon library and roster that a true rock fan could only dream of, was the magic carpet ride for the summer of 2013. Thanks out to the fans sticking it out along the barrier all day and evening, good times and laughs were shared and that is greatly appreciated when I get to shoot at home, keep rocking and see you next time! There is part one of a two part review of Rockwave Festival Ft. Myers published now and part two is almost ready to go, so please check them out to see more images of Before the Fire on up the roster.
