Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Three’s Bar and Grill in Kihei on Maui offers a laid back surfer style vibe, an interesting menu with a raw bar and sushi section, good quality food and a great happy hour. The restaurant specializes in food that comes from locally sourced ingredients that combine Hawaiian, Southwestern and Asian flavors. Three’s Bar and Grill was started by three chefs with a love for great food and great surfing and the restaurant showcases both of those passions well.
The menu at Three’s Bar and Grill is varied so there is something for everyone. Their dinner menu includes appetizer items like Asian style crab cakes, kalua pork quesadillas, and sweet and spicy lettuce wraps. Entrees include unique items like Hawaiian style jambalaya, Japanese seared Ahi, and a mixed grill which comes with filet mignon, macadamia nut crusted chicken, and coconut shrimp. Salads and sandwiches are also available. Menu items with a “3” next to them are considered to be must try, specialty items.
The best part of the menu at Three’s Bar and Grill is the raw bar section. They offer classic sushi and sashimi options that include favorites like spicy tuna and california rolls as well as more unique and original rolls. The volcano roll is a twist on the california roll and comes topped with spicy tuna, ahi and salmon as well as a slice of jalapeno and a spicy sriracha aioli. It definitely packs a punch. For a tropical twist on sushi try the mango crab salad roll which comes with sweet mango and a Thai chili kaffir lime sauce. For those that love sashimi, the restaurant offers an interesting furikake seared ahi version. The raw bar also includes oysters and two different original versions of poke, which is a classic Hawaiian specialty and usually involves marinated tuna sashimi.
Although Three’s Bar and Grill is moderately priced, happy hour is a must at this restaurant. They offer sushi specials starting at just $3.00, $2.00 fresh, raw oysters, as well as many of their popular appetizers ranging from $6.50 to $8.00. Happy hour appetizers include their mediterranean whole wheat flat bread salad, panko crusted ahi roll, and ginger chicken satays. Mai tai’s, margaritas, well drinks and draft beer are just $3.00. They offer both red and white wine options as well. Happy hour lasts from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. There is also a late night happy hour which lasts from 9:00pm to 10:00pm so it’s great for diners that want to eat later as well.
