It has been a warm and humid week across the entire state of Ohio. Unfortunately Mother Nature does not have much of a break in store for us until next week.
The only small relief coming soon will be in the form of a tiny drop in the humidity. The dew point is falling from the lower 70s to the middle 60s. It will still feel very humid outside, so you may not even notice the difference! The only change will be going from “tropical” to just “humid” feeling air. Lows tonight will slowly fall towards the upper 60s by dawn. Some patchy areas of fog will also be likely by the early morning hours. If you have plans outside this evening, expect it to be hot and humid. Temperatures will be in the 80s for the majority of the evening hours.
Friday will be another hot, humid, and sunny day for Columbus. We will start out with a few areas of fog and low clouds but that will quickly burn off thanks to the strong late August sun. Highs on Friday will soar into the upper 80s and even close to 90 degrees.
Looking ahead to the weekend, many people are likely hoping for good weather. The Buckeyes will kick off their football season here in Columbus against Buffalo at noon. If you have tickets to the game, bringing your OSU umbrella might not be a bad idea. It looks like scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop during the afternoon hours. Not everywhere will get hit, but the chance is there for everyone. In between the storms it will be warm and humid. Highs will reach the upper 80s.
Scattered thunderstorms will be possible once again on Sunday although they will be less numerous. With the lower coverage of storms, temperatures could soar up to 90 degrees. A strong cold front will approach late Sunday night into Monday morning. This means the first half of Labor Day could be wet. However, conditions will improve by the late afternoon hours.
The unofficial end to summer may feel like the end of summer this year. That cold front will drop the temperature quickly from the middle 80s to the lower 70s by Monday evening. Highs on Tuesday will top out only in the middle 70s!

Scattered showers and thunderstorms could dampen your holiday weekend plans. It looks like a big cool down is coming for the second half of Labor Day and will last into much of next week.
Evening temps will be in the 80s with partly cloudy skies. It will feel quite humid as well. Typical fog prone areas will see areas of fog by tomorrow morning. Overall it will be quite night of weather.
Friday at a glance
We will start out with some patchy fog and low level clouds. These will burn off quickly and give way to plenty of sunshine for your Friday. That sun will heat us up close to 90 degrees by late afternoon.
