Today, August 30, 2013, serves as the realization to the work and aspirations of Steve McFall.
Appearing tonight at Montreal’s Calistoga Grill, for his 1st public appearance in decades, Steve is celebrating the launch of his musical works, pulled from the archives and given new light, and released as the cd titled “Looking In My Rearview Mirror”
“This will be a very special evening for me for many reasons. First because it is the first time I appear on stage in over 35 years so it will be be quite an event for all involved, another reason is that I will be supported by SECOND WIND a band that not only plays the music of our lives but are such wonderful human beings. But mostly it will be about being surrounded by friends and family who I love very much and some of those friends will be on stage with me that very night…” states Steve McFall.
A recent discussion at RPML Studios with Steve, shed light on this project, event, and the man behind the music.
A refreshing outlook, from a man who has lived a full life, and whose sole want in the production and release of this musical odyssey, is to produce a “legacy” that is solely about the music. “Notes, words and music, songs that were written as songs, not to change the world or to sell the most cds, but simply to conquer the dreams dreamt some 30 years ago” not brought to fruition due to circumstance, yet now realized, due to circumstance.
“Most of these songs are from the vaults written many years ago when everything seemed possible…simple songs of loss and sorrow…emotions that we all share at one time or another. ‘Looking In My Rearview Mirror’ of Life. I remember many things and people, including these songs, which were a treasure for me to discover again. I share them now in hopes you will enjoy them” states Steve.
No more “What If?”
A question that, after tonight, will no longer need to be asked, and will be answered, to the unsurprised people that already know Steve, and the countless others that will share in the listening of this great music of his.
Knowing that these former musical aspirations of Steve McFall’s life have come to fruition, and now given first view to the friends and patrons of Calistoga’s this evening, serves to celebrate a lifework that is shrouded no longer by the questions and mystery of the “what if’s?”, but by the sheer want of completing an unfinished chapter in a life and career of a man that deserves a good listen.
Unfettered by recording labels, contracts, deadlines, and the pressures of over 3 decades ago. Steve has given a re-birth to his yesteryear writings, and shared them in this new cd, engineered with good friend and West-Island musical staple, Mr. Rick Pleau.
Drop by Calistoga’s tonight and listen to the music. That’s what this, for Steve McFall, is all about.
