On Wednesday, October 30, State AFL-CIO President Richard Bloomingdale and Secretary-Treasurer Frank Snyder urged Governor Tom Corbett to reverse his decision to extend his bid to allow a British company to take over the management of the Pennsylvania Lottery. On Tuesday, October 29, the Governor announced that the exploration process would be extended for another two months. This is the eighth extension of the plan, and will expire on December 31, 2013.
After a month of voting, the State AFL-CIO has inducted Butler County Republican Daryl Metcalfe into it’s “Hall Of Shame”. He has been an advocate of “right to work” laws, and was the architect of the “Voter ID” bill that was stayed by the State Supreme Court.

Also, Tuesday, November 5, is Election Day. Despite misleading ads from the Corbett Administration, you are not required to have an ID to cast your ballot. A list of AFL-CIO endorsed candidates can be found here.
Finally, though the State General Assembly is in a fall recess, there are still a lot of issues that State Senators and Representatives need to be contacted on; transportation funding and prevailing wage, liquor privatization and payday loans are all still on the table.
