I’m reading the first chapter of White Rogue by Dr. David R. Fett, Stephen Langford & Connie Malcolm. I haven’t read the whole book yet, but this first chapter is an attention grabber for sure. There’s an interesting story behind this book. It’s written by three different authors from very diverse backgrounds and yet what they have done with this book will absolutely knock your socks off. If you’re a spy thriller fan, you’ll most definitely love this but from someone who reads paranormal mostly, spy thrillers are an animal of another color and after reading this, I am so hooked.
Cold War era biological experiments are resurrected and after Boston experiences a seemingly inexplicable bio-terrorist attack, the Center for Disease Control’s Dr. Davie Richards and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Paula Mushari once again join forces to uncover who is behind it. An obscure reference to a Dresden project found amid crash site evidence marks them both for execution. Paula and Dave are forced to leave Boston in the middle of the night and head to Washington, D.C.,where they soon find that anyone they contact also becomes the target of assassins. When the daughter of the CDC’s director is taken hostage, Dave and Paula come face to face with an evil that forces them to question the very nature of duty and service to country. With the help of one man, they learn the true meaning of dark operatives while they desperately try to stop another bio-attack from happening.
White Rogue starts out with focusing on a young woman named Anna. Anna works for a bank and is climbing up the corporate ladder, much to the distaste of her fellow co-workers who figure she’s doing things she ought not to do to get to the top only that’s not Anna. She’s bright, she’s smart and she’s ambitious and for that reason she just ignores what everyone is saying about her and continues to climb to reach her goal.
She’s walking downtown and she starts to feel funny. A passerby walks up to her thinking she is in distress but she lets them know she’s okay and makes her way to the bank where she’s been working. Only, she collapses in front of the door.
And that’s where the first chapter ends. It’s like OMG okay White Rogue, you’ve hooked me. You will be in for a treat and I will never doubt my love for spy thrillers ever again.
