Collectors have been going mad over Mattel’s “Monster High” doll line and who can blame them? Theses dolls are scary cool, articulate, detailed, and gore-geous. Some dolls are extremely hard to find and collectors will shell out a lot of money to get their hands on one.
Here is a list of the top five rarest and most expensive dolls sold on the market. These are single dolls that were once sold in stores, so no Comic Con exclusives here. Prices are based on Amazon.com listings.
5. Lagoona Blue- Basic Wave 1
Doll: Lagoona Blue
Series: Basic Line- Wave 1
Released: June 2010
Lagoona Blue, the kindhearted sea monster from “down under,” won over the hearts of girls with her round face and big eyes. Although Lagoona has a doll in almost every series, her original model sold out fast. This doll comes with diary, stand, hairbrush, and a cute fishbowl purse to store her pet Neptuna.
4. Deuce Gorgon- Dawn of the Dance
Doll: Deuce Gorgon
Series: Dawn of the Dance- Wave 2
Released: July 2011
Deuce is a boy doll, and as many Monster High collectors know, the boy dolls are near impossible to find. Deuce’s second doll was the first time the boy with stone cold style was sold apart from his lady, Cleo de Nile. This doll comes with a DVD of the “New Ghoul @ School” movie, an iCoffin, and a black rose for his sweetheart.
3. Toralei Stripe- Basic Wave 3
Doll: Toralei Stripe
Series: Basic Line- Wave 3
Released: December 2011
This curious kitty crawled into stores and managed to vanish in a flash. Toralei is the highest priced girl doll from in stores and any version of her is in high demand. Her other two dolls are also hard to find and are worth at least double their retail value. Toralei comes with diary, hairbrush, stand, and her cute little pet Sweet Fang. Her two kitty companions, Meowlody and Purrsephone, are sold separately at a much lower price.
2. Holt Hyde- Basic Wave 2
Doll: Holt Hyde
Series: Basic Line- Wave 2
Released: July 2011
The very first boy doll to be sold on his own is the one and only Holt Hyde. This was Holt’s one and only doll until a few months ago when his Swimsuit doll was released. Like Deuce before him, he was and still remains very rare. This DJ comes with diary, stand, backpack, shades, and his pet chameleon Crossfade.
1. Gil Webber- Skull Shores
Doll: Gil Webber
Series: Skull Shores
Released: November 2011
No serious Monster High collector would be surprised by the number one spot; Gil Webber is the most expensive and the rarest doll that was once sold in stores. This budget doll only comes with a stand, a map of skull shores and a pineapple drink, so why is he so rare? No one knows. But if he wasn’t reeled in when he was in stores, he’ll cost you the price of a college textbook.
