Theatre Memphis announces that the Pulitizer Prize/Tony Award winning play, “Proof” opens tonight!
September 6, and runs through September 22, 2013.
A press release by Theatre Memphis gives the synopsis. “Proof is about a young girl who watched her genius father succumb to a mental illness. After his death, a discovery is made that in his later life he may have produced a brilliant mathematical proof. His daughter will set out to determine the authenticity of her father’s work and her worth while trying to maintain control of her own mental stability. The work of our new set designer (Jack Yates) and costume designer (Paul McCrae) will be featured in this 2013-2014 inaugural production in the Next Stage.”
The play was written by David Auburn, and is being directed by Tracey Ford, with performances at 7:30 pm Thursdays, 8:00 pm Fridays & Saturdays and 2:00 pm Sundays. There will be no performances on Sat. Sept. 21, 2013.

Based on Mel Brooks’ classic film comedy, this musical version follows young Dr. Frankenstein, his odd and endearing helper, Igor, his gorgeous assistant and his madcap fiancée … oh, and a singing-dancing monster in a tuxedo. A funny monster mash-up perfect for high-energy entertainment. BEWARE! There is innuendo and graphic subject matter that is classic Mel Brooks material.”
