There are many variables that you are faced with in life and how you handle situations depends on your positioning and perception of issues. There are at least three possibilities that will occur from your stance.
- You are aware of what may come and are in a position to handle the situation,so you attack it head on.
- You are aware of what may come and have no idea how you are going to handle the situation.
- You are not aware of any situation that may come at all.
Poor positioning or handling of situations can and usually do bring about poor or very less than desirable results. If you do nothing and let things just roll by and take them as they come, then incidents will get the best of you and wear you down. Weariness will slowly tear away at you and you end up in an undesirable place, and then wonder how you got there.
However, if you position yourself in a manner where you are ready, then you will be more successful with the outcome. You are aligning your thoughts, attitudes, and perception to be in line for what is to come. Foresight in hand, you are ready, knowing ahead of time how the situation will be handled.
Although you may have no control over the situations, and may not be able to alter their essence, how you perceive them to be or handle them is under your control. At the core of positioning is perception. How we see things dictates how we act, our emotions, and ultimately our actions!
This concept of positioning not only pertains to your overall life, but it also pertains to business and marketing to your customers. Customers are the core of your business and you need to position and shape what you have to offer to the consumer’s view or perception.
Consumers that believe in your brand and perceive that it fulfills their needs, wants and desires, are always in a position to purchase from you. It’s up to you to know your customer. Getting intimately aware of their wants, needs and desires should be on your agenda at all times. You are the motivator and your products and offerings should be the catalyst that ignites the need of your consumer and keep them coming back for more each time.
Positioning is a vital component in the buying process and should be handled as such. It is up to your brand to occupy that customers mind, needs, and wants…and most of all, fit the correct perception of what it is they are wanting.
So what is your position? Do you really know your customer? Do you know what motivates your customer?
