OUAT’s ‘Good Form’ was directed by John Amiel. Writers were Christine Boylan and Daniel T. Thomsen.
Pre-Captain Hook Killian Jones (Colin O’Donoghue) was first mate to his brother Captain Liam Jones (Bernard Curry). The King sent the crew of Jewel Realm out on a top secret mission. Acquire a plant said to have miraculous healing capabilities. The botanical thrived in a previously unknown location.
To avoid capture they employ new technology. A sail made from Pegasus feathers allows the ship to fly. They arrive at their destination the island Neverland. Peter Pan (Robbie Kay) repeatedly warns the Jones Bros about the plant Dreamshade.
In Neverland, Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin), Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) work together to get Intel and let Henry (Jared S. Gilmore) know they’re onsite. Hook and Charming (Josh Dallas) team up to retrieve Liam’s sextant.
A drugged and unconscious Bae (Michael Raymond-James) is held in a cage off the ground. He has company. Felix (Parker Croft) has been Pan’s right hand man for how long? Was he his first Lost Boy? Or one of the most ruthless?
The good: Love the snark this season. How did the King learn about Neverland? Charming as an overly protective father. More Jones Bros please. If Hook keeps being a good guy he might get the Charming seal of approval. Bae has competition. How did Pan get to the island? Is he the original Lost Boy?
We’ll know Hook and Rumple are truly reformed. When they get to where they can be alone together in the same room. Engaged in snarky conversation without trying to kill each other. But Regina should be nearby just in case. How about boy’s night out someday? Rumple, Hook and Charming trading quips on their shared past. Bae catches up on the last 300 years while acting as referee.
Love how the writing staff has returned to season one form. Bringing back the show everyone fell for in the pilot. Think it’s brilliant that Neverland forces the characters to confront their past and be who they are while tying up lingering plot threads.
The biggest question is will the collaborative spirit remain when the mission is over. It would be terrible if characters made great leaps in development. Only to relapse and behave like it never happened. Hope resolving plot threads occur in StoryBrooke for recurring and guest cast. With cameo appearances and exposition to put Oncers out of their misery.
The bad: Charming not revealing he’s dying to others. Was Liam blindly following orders? Or was he willing to do whatever was necessary to end the war? The King was the reason Killian became Hook. Pan told Hook Neal is alive and in Neverland. Will Hook tell Emma?
The ugly: No Rumple. Who is Pan’s other prisoner? Rumple or Tink? Suspicion Rumple gave Pan the sketch of the truest believer in exchange for Young Bae’s freedom.
