Contests are fun for me and you, the readers and fans. Personally, I enjoy seeing you all get hooked up with something cool, free, and signed usually, and who doesn’t like a free show?
ventwing.com/Syracuse Music and Syracuse Local Music along with Modern Music Asylum recently teamed up with Victory Records and OTEP for some free swag for her show at The Lost Horizon in Syracuse on October 15th.
I am thrilled to report that I have checked in with all six winners of the three signed CDs and three signed t-shirts and they all have received their winnings. I asked a few what they thought of the show as this guy caught what felt like a zombie-bug that knocked me out of commission that entire week.
Here is what I got back from each winner:
Chistina Goodroe – Tee shirt
“I did, thank you for asking! It is a really nice of you to make sure I received my winnings, the shirt is bad Ass! Only down fall is that it is an XL…. That’s okay, my boyfriend get to wear it. For now anyways…till I get to it with some scissors and my crafty ways!! Thanks again dude!”
Christie Menkins – Tee shirt
“Yes I did, thank you so much. I love it!!”
Jerrod Prevost – CD
“I got the signed OTEP CD. Thanks!!!”
Natasha Lewandowski – Tee shirt
“I’d like to give a huge thanks to writer David Garlow of ventwing.com and Modern Music Asylum for hooking me up with the awesome Otep shirt! The show was phenomenal! Otep delivered an unforgettable performance. From playing Apex Predator to covering Nirvana’s Breed, Otep kept the crowd wanting for more!”
Leona Hill – CD
“Yes I did get it!!! I got it the same day of the show! Thank you again!!”
Tom Earnshow – CD
“I did get a signed CD in the mail from Victory Records on the Oct. 15th. I did go to the show; it was actually on the same night. I ended up getting a hoodie and was able to meet Otep, get a picture taken with her and she signed one of the poetry books that I purchased a while ago for me.”
Also from a friend of mine that attended the show; Mark ‘Gooner’ Groesbeck:
“I thought she was awesome! Her vocals could have been louder but a good show anyway. I do miss Evil Jay; he brought a presence they don’t have now. Otep always gets the crowd going, she’s amazing, thanks Dave!”
So The Lost Horizon had yet another killer metal show with a packed house; and who but me keeps writing about it in this town? There are a few others and I read them too, but be assured rock is NOT dead in Syracuse, just the mainstream media outlets are.
Many thanks to OTEP and Victory Records for an awesome night and for following through on everything that they said they would do. I for one know the people there are awesome indeed.
**Look for my next contest being announced later today for Pop Evil, Eve To Adam, Black Oxygen, and The Letter Black taking place at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse on November 24th.
