October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and many local Orlando musicians are doing their part to raise awareness and funds with events scheduled throughout the month in Orlando. On Thursday, October 3, several Orlando bands are getting together for a Rock Pink benefit show at The Social in downtown Orlando.
Music fans can enjoy live performances from Orlando bands Bob Green and The Whiskey Conspiracy, Dirty Shannon, The Heartbreak Junkies, Ashley Dudukovich of Chasing Jonah, Sam Stone of Exit the Ride, Carly Jo Jackson and Melodic Dissent while supporting a good cause. Orlando singer/songwriter Bob Green has done several Rock Pink benefit shows and organizing this one has special meaning for him, “I wanted to do breast cancer this show, it’s that month and a family member just had a double mastectomy.”
The Social is located at 54 N. Orange Ave. in downtown Orlando. The doors will open at 8 p.m. for this 18+ show. Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 at the door. The musicians are playing for free and all ticket sales above venue costs are being donated to Rock Pink.
Bob Green and The Whiskey Conspiracy
Orlando based singer/songwriter Bob Green will be performing with his band The Whiskey Conspiracy for this special benefit show. Green has put together a stellar line-up of top Orlando talent for this event.
Dirty Shannon seems to play more shows out of town rather than in town so this show is a rare opportunity for music fans to catch one of the top-rated Orlando bands live and it’s for a good cause so it’s a win win situation.
Ashley Dudukovich of Chasing Jonah
It’s not surprising to see Orlando singer/songwriter Ashley Dudukovich (Chasing Jonah) on the bill for this benefit show. She is one of the biggest cheerleaders for speaking kindness and doing what you can to help others.
Orlando singer/songwriter Sam Stone (Exit the Ride and Five Mile Drive) mentioned the upcoming show on his Facebook page, “The last time I performed at the venue was with the Mark Tremonti project, and my amazing father, God rest his soul, was there to witness the event. I am so honored and excited to be returning next Thursday, and I sincerely ask you all to join me as I play some of my new material in honor of him. Bill Peck will be joining me for the latter portion of the set, and it’s going to be a blowout.”
singer/songwriter Carly Jo Jackson
Orlando based singer/songwriter Carly Jo Jackson will be appearing with Rhenn Cahoe. “I am excited to be doing the show to benefit Rock Pink,” said Jackson. “They support a cause that is very personal to me. I lost my grandmother to breast cancer and I am honored to be able to do something in her memory to raise awareness for this disease.”
The Heartbreak Junkies
The four piece Orlando band, The Heartbreak Junkies is looking forward to the upcoming show. “The Heartbreak Junkies are proud and excited to be able to play our music in an effort to help Rock Pink and their quest for a cure of breast cancer.”
Orlando band Melodic Dissent was a recent addition the show’s line-up. “This is our first time jammin for a cause and breast cancer hits home to so many people including one of the musicians here tonight, so to be able to raise money and finish the night with some reggae vibes, we couldn’t be more honored to be a part of this!”
