Five years before the birth of President Barack Obama one of the most popular Presidents of the United States, the show “To Tell the Truth” first aired on CBS. The year was 1956, and the show was originally titled “Nothing but the Truth,” but CBS chose to change it to “To Tell the Truth” the night before its debut.
The show turned out to be very popular, but after a few years, its popularity waned, much like the popularity of the 44th President of the United States, Barrack Hussein Obama, is waning. I propose that if the show were airing today, our President would be an excellent character to include in the programming.
After five years in the highest office of the United States, three questions still remain unanswered about Obama – Is our President purposely deceptive (a liar), or is he out of touch with America and his role as leader, or does the man who sits in the White House just not know how to lead our country?
An analysis of recent stories by his bedfellows in mainstream media in light of the fallout from the botched roll-out of the Affordable Care Act, has led me to some answers.
Ironically, the same network that premiered the “To Tell the Truth” show, CBS, uncovered “real numbers” in the millions of people that were finding out that they could not keep their healthcare plan contrary to what the President promised back in 2009 and 2010. If you have forgotten, on numerous occasions, President Obama looked directly into the camera and said, “If you like your plan, you can keep it. Period!”
Suddenly, under fire over his statement, he is admitting that a small percentage will lose their plan but according to Reuters, he now blames the insurance companies, and says is not his fault. But then yesterday in Boston, he put another spin on the original lie and said not to worry. Then he tried to spin it again. “Just shop around in the new marketplace,” he said. “You’re going to get a better deal.”
But is it a different spin or maybe a new lie that CNN’s liberal Sally Krohn is trying to perpetuate?
Deceptive? Outright lies? The Washington Post “fact checker” gives Obama four “Pinocchios” for the statements he repeatedly made about keeping your doctor and keeping your healthcare. In other words, the Washington Post, deemed Obama’s statement – a “whopper!”
Back on Aug. 24, 2009, Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), warned about Americans about this declaritive statement that the President repeatedly told. Rep. Price, a doctor, said, “On the stump, the president regularly tells Americans that ‘if you like your plan, you can keep your plan.’ But if you read the bill, that just isn’t so. For starters, within five years, every health-care plan will have to meet a new federal definition for coverage — one that your current plan might not match, even if you like it.”
Which leads me to the question – is the President out of touch? Did the President even know what was in the healthcare bill that was so heavily debated and then pushed through the House and Senate? If he read it, then he would know that Price’s statement was accurate and that makes him a liar. If he didn’t, then he certainly was out of touch.
And that leads me into the competency issue? A competent person is someone capable of doing the job. The President’s job is to provide strategic leadership to bring the House and the Senate together to compromise on issues that they differ on, and to protect and defend the laws of the United States. Has he demonstrated through his actions that he is competent to do that?
The bottom line is, President Obama lied to the American people regarding “Obamacare.” And since he added each time the “PERIOD!” to his statements, that makes them, in my opinion, blatant lies. Additionally, I strongly believe this president is out of touch, but I believe it is of his own choosing based on the advice of those that want to see him absolved when he is involved in wrongdoing.
Prime example is Joe Biden trying to brush the website failure off the President’s shoulders by saying this as reported by Politico:, “Neither he and I are technology geeks, and we assumed that it was up and ready to run.” But back in July the President seemed to have a pretty good grasp of how things were “supposed” to work. Check out this video of his demonstration of healthcare.gov.
Deceptive and out of touch? Absolutely! Incompetent? I don’t think so. Which leaves a sad commentary that Obama, our 44th President could have been a great president, because he is, I believe, certainly capable; unfortunately, he chooses not to which is unfortunate for the the American people.
