Last spring, “American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy said he’d be bringing back actors from season one’s Murder House. In addition to Taissa Farmiga, whose return was announced months ago, TVLine revealed earlier this week that Denis O’Hare would also be back. Now comes news (from KPopStarz, earlier today) that Jamie Brewer joins her Murder House cast mates filming season three Coven (which will air in October) in New Orleans’ French Quarter.
Until recently, Evan Peters, a chief character in Murder House and the show’s second season Asylum, was the only male cast member announced for Coven. Now joined in that capacity by O’Hare, Zimbio also spotted actor Grey Damon on the set last week.
Farmiga portrayed angst-filled teen Violet Harmon, Juliet to Peters’ twisted Romeo (Tate Langdon) in Murder House. O’Hare’s Larry Harvey, unattractive both physically – from burn scars inflicted by Tate – and otherwise – would appear seemingly out of nowhere to threaten Violet’s dad Ben (Dylan McDermott). Larry’s skeeviness multiplied as he groveled before Tate’s mom Constance (Jessica Lange), his obsessive love sickening to both her and audiences alike. Brewer played Adelaide, Constance’s only child still at home, both loved and resented by her mother. Addy championed as the only character to die in the show and achieve peace – the only one who – by her own choice – didn’t become a ghost in Murder House.
Newcomer to “AHS,” Damon (no relation to actor Matt) joins previously announced newcomers Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Patti LuPone, Emma Roberts and Gabourey Sidibe. Damon is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Hastings Ruckle in the final season of “Friday Night Lights,” alongside the show’s star Connie Britton, who afterwards played Violet’s mom and Ben’s wife Vivien in Murder House. Might this mean Britton, too, might show up some time in Coven to work again with Damon? Fans can only hope!
‘AHS’ witchy-themed third season Coven stars a glamorous Lange, with Bates as her nemesis, and Lange’s Asylum co-stars Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, and Lily Rabe. Asylum garnered 17 well-deserved Primetime Emmy Award nominations (including acting nods for Lange, Paulson, Zachary Quinto and James Cromwell), but Rabe, who turned in a stunning performance as the possessed Sister Mary Eunice, was robbed of hers. Perhaps her Coven role will bring this gifted actress recognition? Click here for a list of all ‘AHS: Asylum’ nominations.
Hopefully playing nice on the set, Peters and Roberts, real life sweethearts, recently turned into boxing competitors in their Toronto hotel room. Click here for details. Photos of the couple in New Orleans hugging and holding hands indicate they’ve made up. For more Coven set photos, click here.
