You’ve probably seen the commercials featuring the Ocean Spray growers in the cranberry bog on TV, and you can meet them in person at Walt Disney World every year at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. A bog springs up just past the fountain, toward the path to World Showcase, manned by growers who are happy to answer all your questions.
On the opening day of the festival I had the opportunity to join the crowds inside the bog to see what the harvest feels like. You can see scenes from the event and my adventures in the bog by clicking the list accompanying this article.
Not only did I get to don hip waders and slog my way around, but I enjoyed cranberry-centric food and drink. If you’d to see the dining decadence for yourself, continue on to this article.
The Ocean Spray cranberry bog is an annual favorite with guests, and it’s just one small part of the many festival activities. You can explore the world of Ghirardelli chocolate, learn how to cook from the pros, shop for cute kitchenware, catch a concert, and of course eat and drink your way around World Showcase throughout the festival, which runs until November 11.

Ocean Spray Cranberry Bog
Discover the cranberry at the Ocean Spray cranberry bog at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. You’ll always find a friendly grower on hand to chat with you.
Dining in the Bog
What could be better than wading in the Ocean Spray cranberry bog at Epcot? Drinking and dining at the same time! Food and beverages with a cranberry twist awaited me in the bog.
You have to suit up properly before you can head into the cranberry bog. Ocean Spray provided the hip waders, and I suited up quickly and was soon ready for my big adventure.
Taking the Plunge
Soon it was time to lower myself gingerly into the cranberry bog. Judging from the looks on the bystanders’ faces, they were wondering what was going on with tables set up among the cranberries and a group of people all taking the plunge.
Meeting a Grower
In the bog I met Todd May, a cranberry grower from Canada. He took some time away from the harvest to head down to Epcot. Ocean Spray is a cooperative, and many of the growers have been in the business for multiple generations.
Dipping in the Cranberries
I just had to reach down into the bog and dip into the cranberries. The harvest is done by flooding the bogs so they look pretty much like the Epcot exhibit. That makes them much easier to harvest.
A Unique Experience
It really is a unique experience to get to wade in the Ocean Spray cranberry bog at Epcot. I know I’ll see it several more times this year as I make repeat visits to the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, and it will bring back great memories.
