Any smartphone with “verykool” in its name has to be very cool.
InfoSonics Corporation, a up and coming maker of smartphones- mostly of the rugged and durable variety, and I’m impressed.
I took the InfoSonics “verykool” challenge and started using their Vortex RS90 as my phone and I can’t put it down.
“The Vortex is another example of our commitment to deliver the best value in the industry,” said Joseph Ram, InfoSonics president and chief executive officer. “The RS90 delivers ‘rugged elegance’ through a powerful combination of unique industrial design and premium smartphone technology built upon an IP67-rated ruggedized enclosure. This is an attractively-priced, full-featured smartphone that will appeal to resellers and consumers alike.”
The RS90 is of course durable, but flexible at the same time. Unlike other popular phones, the RS90 has expandable external storage of up to 32GB and a number of connectivity and media features. It has has Corning Gorilla glass, so you know the screen will be well protected.
Speaking of the screen, it’s a 4.5 inch brilliant qHD touch screen that shows up great in dark and extremely bright conditions. The 5-megapixel rear and the VGA front camera work great. They are quick, and take almost perfect pictures and videos while outdoors.
InfoSonics is on to something with their line, and they not only are proud of their hardware, but all the value they offer.
From InfoSonic, here are some additional specs of the RS90:
· 3G HSPA (7.2/5.76) dual band (850/1900) and 2G GSM quad band (850/900/1800/1900)
· Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, Modem Tethering, Bluetooth, WAP, GPS and USB port
· SMS and MMS messaging plus push e-mail
· Predictive text input
· Built-in FM radio, audio/video player and recorder
· 1800 mAh Li-Ion battery
· Speakerphone, proximity/light/gravity sensors, torch and 3.5mm audio jack and stereo headset included
· Hearing aid compatible (M3/T3 rating)
All specs aside, the Vortex RS90 feels good in your hand. That is what most people are concerned with when it comes to that moment when you first pick up a phone.
It also is an all-around good looking smartphone. Yes, it is a rugged phone, but it doesn’t have that “rugged smartphone” look at makes people do a double take.
