The 2013 NFL trade rumors may start to kick into overdrive as the trade deadline draws near. There are several big names being rumored to be shopped around, but which ones are a smoke screen and which ones have actual truth to them have yet to be determined.
Three of the bigger names out there that are being rumored to move are DE Jared Allen, WR Josh Gordon and WR Larry Fitzgerald.
According to NFL.SI.com on Oct. 28, here are the up to date whispers going around the league.
The Vikings are willing to listen to offers for Jared Allen, but only at the “right price.”
SI reports (via Fox Sports) that the Vikings would be willing to deal Jared Allen for the “right price.” An impending free agent, Allen would potentially net the Vikings a third-rounder in compensation if he left via free agency. For that reason, Glazer says Minnesota would be seeking a higher pick in any deal for Allen.
Jared Allen would make any teams defense instantly get 100 times better, like maybe the Lions? Just to play Lions GM for a second, I would part with a second or third round pick for this guy in a minute. These are the kind of deals that make a middle of the pack team jump to a top contender instantly.
Allen has a lot left in the tank and he drives his opponents crazy.
Cleveland’s Josh Gordon is a hot name that many teams are interested in, including the Lions, Patriots and Colts. According to CBS’ Jason La Canfora many teams have been burning up the phone wire with interest in Gordon.
”Teams have been calling for weeks on him and the Browns have let other clubs know they are willing to listen to offers on pretty much anyone on their roster, but would likely take a second-round pick and a player with some value, at the least, to pry him away. There have been enough discussions about him that I can’t rule it out entirely, but someone would have to really give the Browns something to think about with their offer.”
Gordon would be a great add to a team in need of a dependable wideout.
When it comes to Larry Fitzgerald the rumors are just that – rumors.
“I have not had one conversation regarding a trade with Larry Fitzgerald,” general manager Steve Keim told 620 AM in Arizona. “We have every intent to have Larry Fitzgerald retire as a Cardinal. Period.”
That sounds pretty cut and dry.
New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks has been rumored to be on the trading block for weeks now, but the G-Men have improved from 0-6 to 2-6 and are very much alive in the NFC East. Yes, even at 2-6, New York is only 2 games out of first place behind the 4-4 Dallas Cowboys.
Nicks won’t be dealt, unless the offer is something incredible for New York.
