This week, some of the networks roll out their Sunday primetime shows. The CW, which doesn’t offer programming on Sunday, also starts premiering some of their popular returning weekday shows.
NBC’s juggernaut of “Sunday Night Football” is still having an effect on the other networks. Most competing networks now show female orientated shows on Sunday just like they used to on Mondays when ABC showed “Monday Night Football”. The other networks now have mostly delayed the premieres of their Sunday primetime shows. A female orientated show whose premiere has been delayed is “The Good Wife“ which starts on Sun. Sept. 29, 2013 at 8 p.m. on ch 6.1 KOTV with episode “Everything Is Ending”. It is followed by episode “The Desert Rose” of “The Mentalist” at 9:01 p.m.
The fairy tale ABC drama “Once Upon a Time“ starts with a special on Sun. Sept. 29, 2013 on ch 8.1 KTUL with “Journey to Neverland” at 6 p.m. and a regular episode “Heart of the Truest Believer” at 7 p.m. “Revenge“ moves from Wednesdays to Sundays starting on Sun. Sept. 29, 2013 at 8 p.m. with episode “Fear”. It is followed by the pilot episode of new show “Betrayal” at 9 p.m.
Fox also delayed their Sunday animation block even though they have the World Series looming. The longest running “The Simpsons“ starts Sun. Sept. 29, 2013 at 7 p.m. on ch 23.1 KOKI with episode “Homerland”. “Bob’s Burgers“ follows at 7:30 p.m. with episode “A River Runs Through Bob”. The episode “Finder Keepers” of “Family Guy is on at 8 p.m. with “American Dad!“ at 8:30 p.m. showing episode “Steve and Snot’s Test-Tubular Adventure”.
The networks started a lot of their sitcoms with special hour blocks and the result is the filler shows have to wait to be premiered. “We Are Men” finally appears on Mon. Sept. 30, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. on ch 6.1 KOTV.
The CW which usually starts early starts with their surprise hit depicting the killing of rich people, “Arrow“, which returns with season two on Wed. Oct. 2,2013 at 7 p.m. on ch 6.2 KQCW with episode “Year One”.
Rebel Wilson brings her in your face comedy “Super Fun Night” on Wed. Oct. 2,2013 at 8:31 p.m. on ch 8.1 KTUL with episode “Anything for Love”.
NBC fills in their Thursday comedy line up with “Welcome to the Family” on Thu. Oct. 3, 2013 at 7:31 p.m. on ch 2.1 KJRH and Sean Hayes comedy “Sean Saves the World” at 8:01 p.m. Michael J. Fox’s show moves down to 8:30 p.m. away from Robin Williams’ much higher rated CBS show. Robin Williams’ show is more of a dramedy than a sitcom and its ratings should decline helping out Sean Hayes. Amber Tamblyn does a surprisingly good job as (spoiler alert) Charlie Harper’s daughter which could save “Two and a Half Men” after it “jumped the shark”.
The ultimate filler which has nothing in common with any other Thursday CBS show, “The Millers”, debuts on Thu. Oct. 3, 2013 at 7:31 p.m. on ch 6.1 KOTV. Numerous shows have tried the slot after the “Big Bang Theory” and have failed.
The CW continues rolling out their main stays with “The Vampire Diaries“ (TVD) which starts on Thu. Oct. 3, 2013 at 7 p.m. on ch 6.2 KQCW with episode “I Know What You Did Last Summer”. It is followed by the TVD spin off “The Originals” at 8 p.m. “The Originals” had a backdoor [pilot as part of TVD. Parts of those TVD episodes that dealt specifically with “The Originals” was edited down to a director’s cut of the pilot available for a limited time here on hulu.com. The third version of the pilot, “Always and Forever”, will air on Thu. Oct. 3, 2013 at 8 p.m. on ch 6.2 KQCW.
ABC is putting a special of “Scandal“ as filler on Thu. Oct. 3, 2013 at 7 p.m. on ch 8.1 KTUL with “The Secret Is Out”. It then follows with a new episode, “It’s Handled” at its regular timeslot at 9 p.m.
FOX which premiered its kids edition of ”MasterChef“ earlier repackages it as the “Junior Edition” of ”MasterChef“ on Fri. Oct. 4, 2013 at 7 p.m. on ch 23.1 KOKI with episode “School’s Out … But the MasterChef Kitchen Is Open!”.
Revised: Fixed “Once Upon a Time” and “Scandal”.
