National Health Center Week Celebrating Health Centers: Transforming Health Care in our Local Communities August 11th – 17th
National Health Center Week has been celebrated for more than 30 years. 2013 celebrates Transforming Local Care in our Local Communities. As community owned and operated businesses, local Health Centers deliver high quality, cost effective, accessible care, keeping communities healthy and productive. They are actively changing, improving and innovating the health of their communities.
In addition to their long history as health care homes to millions, Health Centers are also proud to maintain a more than 45 year record being ranked among the highest quality and cost effective care providers in the nation. Health Centers provide their services to all people, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status.
Today, America’s Health Centers serve over 23 million people (including 862,776 Farmworkers and more than 1 million people who are Homeless) at more than 8,200 delivery sites in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories.
Each year three days are set aside during NHCW to recognize special populations served by health centers: Public Housing Health Centers Day – Tuesday, August 13, Health Care for the Homeless Day – Wednesday, August 14, and Farmworker Health Day – Thursday, August 15.
This year, as every year, NHCW invites you to join in celebrating National Health Center Week 2013, August 11th-17th to recognize the work America’s Health Centers do each day to work toward the goal of ensuring everyone has access to a health care home.
Every year the National Health Center Week celebration gets larger and garners more attention and visibility. As the size and scope of the celebration has grown, so too has the notoriety and event coverage by local and national media outlets.
