One of the highlights of Halloween is dressing up in a costume and going trick or treating. Getting a bag of candy is exciting for the kids but a not so much for the parents!
After the kiddos pick out a few of their favorites, how can the remaining candy be used? M&m’s, Necco Wafers, gum and mini tootsie rolls can be saved for your Christmas gingerbread houses and the rest can be donated to Operation Gratitude who forwards it to the U.S. troops in combat.
While you can box up the treats yourselves, local dentists have a buy back program that can help ease the little princesses and clowns into a charitable mood. Children can cash in their leftover candy at $1 per pound, up to a total of 10 pounds per person. The dentists will then send the candy onto the troops, how great is that?
