On Mark Levin’s radio show on Friday, he addressed the false talking point used by Democrats, establishment Republicans and the mainstream media about the so-called “divide” in the Republican party, which has been used to single out popular constitutional conservatives, such as Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee.
Referencing a comment made by Senator John McCain, who said “we are dividing the Republican Party rather than attacking Democrats,” as reported by the Huffington Post yesterday, Levin responded,
“Actually, we’re not dividing the Republican party…It’s you clowns in the establishment versus everybody else.”
The tactic to tease out the perceived enemies of big government is used by the radical left to marginalize conservatives who actually represent the views of their constituents. In this case, those who oppose ObamaCare, as reflected by the majority of Americans in poll after poll. The overarching law was passed without one Republican vote, as observed by Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post.
Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said “…these tea party obstructionists don’t represent mainstream Republicans either in this body or mainstream Republicans in our country,” as reported by the Examiner. Reid’s comment, however, does not explain a recent poll that shows that “Ted Cruz is now the top choice of Republican primary voters to be their candidate for President in 2016.” And Cruz is followed by another constitutional conservative, Sen. Rand Paul.
As Paul Bedard reported yesterday at the Washington Examiner, those who describe themselves in the Republican party as “very conservative” or “somewhat conservative” make up “76 percent of the party,” according to a PPP poll. This flies in the face of the narrative.
Referring to those who say that there is a divide in the Republican party, Levin noted, “They know nothing about the Republican party. In fact, the leaders of the Republican party know nothing about the Republican party.”
While the establishment Republicans are diligently working to perpetuate the myth that the Tea Party conservatives in their midst somehow represent a rogue faction, they are only proving themselves to be out of touch with the pulse of their own base.
