Families, Friends and Co-Workers Walk to Save Lives and Serve the Tampa Bay Community on October 4, 2013
Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) will host the 3rd Annual Pinellas Walk Like MADD® 5K & MADD Dash 5K Run on Indian Rocks Beach October 4th. Sponsored by Bright House Networks & Carey & Leisure Law Firm, festivities begin at 5 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. The Walk/Run starts at 6:30 p.m. and will raise funds and rally support for MADD’s educational programs and victim services in Pinellas & Pasco Counties.
All proceeds raised from the Pinellas Walk Like MADD/MADD Dash remain in Pinellas/Pasco Counties to further MADD’s lifesaving mission by supporting and educating local families and youth right here.
“The Walk Like MADD is such an important time for those of us who have lost a loved one to drunk driving.” says Sharon Hall with MADD. “It gives us a chance to come together and share a little time with others in this club that we never wanted to belong to. The environment is one of remembrance, but also a celebration of their live. The end result is the funds that are raised help MADD continue to do the work that they do in the community-to stop drunk driving, to support the victims of this violent crime, and to prevent underage drinking.”
The Walk Like MADD/MADD Dash 5K is taking place for the 3rd year in a row and is expected to raise $35,000 to help further MADDs mission to eliminate drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.
“We encourage families, and groups of friends and co-workers, to lace up their sneakers and join us for this year’s walk,” said Amber Saltzman, Walk Like MADD Coordinator. “With everyone’s help, we can and will eliminate drunk driving — a 100 percent preventable crime.”
Registration is $15 for those ages 5-21, and $20 for those who are 21 and over. Registration includes a tee-shirt and participation in the food, fun and festivities.
