“When The Doors started the word rock star wasn’t in our vocabulary, it wasn’t even an energy drink.” So started John Densmore introductory remarks in the induction ceremony of Jane’s Addiction to the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday.
All the members of Jane’s Addiction were present Perry Farrell in what is getting to be his trademark bolero hat, Dave Navarro looking the most like a rock star in long hair and a leather coat, Chris Chaney and Steve Perkins. Farrell and Navarro gave the longest, most heartfelt and reflective speeches. Farrell especially remembered his early days and the early supporters of Jane’s Addiction.
Inducting Jane’s Addiction to the Walk of Fame were those with Doors connections. John Densmore of course who was the drummer for The Doors and the camaraderie demonstrated the connection between the bands even though they’re separated by more than twenty years in the rock ‘n’ roll timeline. A surprise guest was John Doe, guitarist and lead singer of X, whose first album was produced by Ray Manzarek.
You can watch the entire induction ceremony above. John Densmore’s speech comes in at the 13:31 minute mark.
