The Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series visit Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend for short track action, and Joe Gibbs Racing has been well represented in victory lane at “Thunder Valley,” with Kyle Busch leading the way with 13 wins across NASCAR’s top three series, including the only three-race weekend sweep in history.
Busch, who leads active drivers with five wins, along with brother Kurt and Jeff Gordon, also has five Nationwide Series wins and three Camping World Truck Series victories. Busch will drive the No. 18 Doublemint Toyota Camry in the Sprint Cup Series IRWIN Tools Night Race on Saturday night, and the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota in the Nationwide Series Food City 250 on Friday night. He is also racing his own Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 51 Toyota Tundra in Wednesday night’s Truck Series race.
Matt Kenseth earned two wins at Bristol with Roush Fenway Racing before joining JGR this season. The driver of the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota also has 17 top 10 finishes in 27 starts. JGR teammate Denny Hamlin, in the No. 11 FedEx Ground Toyota, has one win at Bristol, along with seven top 10 finishes in 15 starts.
On the Nationwide Series side, Elliott Sadler, driver of the No. 11 OneMain Financial Toyota Camry, has a Cup Series victory at Bristol along with two Nationwide Series wins. Brian Vickers, in the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota, has finished in the top 10 in the last three Cup Series races for Michael Waltrip Racing and finished third in the spring Nationwide Series race for JGR this season.
Joining Sadler, Vickers and Busch will be Drew Herring in the No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota. This will be Herring’s first Nationwide Series start at Bristol.
