Kanye West went on an explosive Twitter rant against Jimmy Kimmel Thursday, after the chat host poked fun at the rapper’s BBC interview on his talk show Tuesday. Kanye posted multiple all-caps tweets in which he called out Jimmy for making fun of him, basically because he’s the biggest star in music ever. Kimmel responded on his show Thursday night, airing many of the tweets for his audience to see, referring to the Twitter war in saying, “Right now we’re at DefKanye Five”, according to the Daily News on Sept. 27.
Apparently Kanye West can’t take a joke. On Thursday night’s show, Jimmy Kimmel relayed to the audience an angry phone call he received from West earlier in the day.
Kimmel said that Kanye told him he had two choices: Number one, apologize publicly. “And that was really the only choice”, Jimmy joked. The other choice the comedian said, was that he told me my life is going to be much better if I apologize.
The Twitter war came a day after a skit on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live featured a kid reenacting his BBC Radio 1 interview, in which Kanye once again unleashed his massive ego.
West, 36, tweeted that Kimmel, 45, was out of line to in any way make fun of the first piece of honest media in years. West tweeted in capital letters. “I don’t take it as a joke”, then apparently suggesting the parody in some way fuels the fire for paparazzi to stalk his new baby.
Kanye tweeted to Jimmy that he doesn’t have scum bags hopping fences trying to get pictures of his daughter, telling him to put himself in his shoes.
In the BBC interview Jimmy poked fun at, West said things like rappers are the new rock stars, and he’s the biggest of them all. He also said that he’s basically bigger than Michael Jackson ever was.
West took shots at Kimmel tweeting things like comic Sarah Silverman, Jimmy’s ex girlfriend, is way funnier than he is. In his expletive-filled rants, Kanye suggested more than once that Jimmy doesn’t get enough of a certain part of the female anatomy as he does.
Kimmel shot back at those remarks with a jab saying he knows because he’s seen the tape. A total slam on Kanye’s baby-mama Kim Kardashian’s sex tape, with another man.
It seems the point of Jimmy’s skit was lost on West. Using a child to reenact the BBC interview was likely a riff on the rapper for saying childishly outrageous things like he does and did. And Kanye’s reaction was this Twitter rant. Sound Childish?
Some sources suggested the whole fiasco was a prank. But Kimmel assured doubters in a tweet that at least for him, this is no prank, unless West is playing one on him.
Kanye West is, after all, best known for his outbursts and not his humor.
