It was no wonder that the place was hopping; it was wall-to-wall people. If you wanted to try any clothes on, you needed not be shy and simply slip them over your existing clothes or put your name on the list of others too modest to pull such a brave act. It was worth the wait though as the prices were magnificent to begin with and downright flabbergasting after the huge discount!
Second Chance certainly gives its shoppers an opportunity to locate housewares of all sorts – from glasses, plates, pots and pans, knick-knacks, wall hangings and frames to bedding, curtains and more. They have some really unique pieces of art donated that come at such reasonable prices that it is difficult to not take advantage of many of these items. It is really easy to refurnish an entire household for very little cost.
There are books and jewelry, bags and boxes of brand new items. Children may just love to pick a new game, book or stuffed toy. There are even collectibles and antiques.
The clothing selection is unbelievable in that there are such a wide variety of items. There are vintage, designer, brand new closeout items donated by retailers such as J.Jill, regular wear, evening wear, belts, shoes, ties, purses, scarves, and intimates. The selections are out of this world. It is simply wise to shop at Second Chance and yet to know that by your purchases you are making a difference in the lives of others deserving a second chance, it just feels good!
According to Kath, the manager of both Second Chance Resale Shop locations, the sale takes place twice each year in both stores. The Central Store is located at 1512 North Naper Boulevard in Suite 172 in Naperville, Illinois while the South Store is located at 1131 Fairview Avenue in Westmont, Illinois. Both stores are open and operating on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Both have donation hours Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Both locations are closed for business on Sunday for a family day of rest.
When the stores open their doors each day, the only thing they as of their customers is to shop with their heart! Not only do you get a great deal as a public shopper, but you are providing an additional source of income that is designated to help support Family Shelter Services (FSS) and to their mission of providing “help and hope” to victims of domestic violence in DuPage County, Illinois.
One further benefit of having the resale shops associated with FSS is that those being helped by the Shelter are able to clothe their family and restock their homes for FREE at Second Chance. Sometimes this is such a blessing as they may have had to leave their entire world behind simply to escape violence. Second Chance gives them an opportunity to rebuild their lives with the small things that can make a huge difference.
Hope you were able to make it to the sale on Saturday. If not, stop in anyway, what do you have to lose besides a lot of cash for the same items at a giant retail store?
