In 1988, Milwaukee’s Harley-Davidson decided to throw a hometown birthday party every five years for Harley owners and fans. This weekend, Milwaukee will host Harley’s 110th anniversary party. Over 100,000 are expected to ride in for the festivities with the Summerfest grounds acting as the main meeting point. Here’s a rundown of all the concerts going on this weekend throughout the Milwaukee metropolitan area.
MMA fans get a chance to see UFC come to the Bradley Center once again on Saturday with the UFC 164:Hometown Throwdown featuring the pride of Milwaukee, fighter Anthony Pettis. 10 fights featuring some of UFC’s brightest stars will begin at 9pm. Before the fight at 3:30pm, there will be a tailgate in the Northeast Plaza featuring autograph signings from Cain Valasquez, Urijah Faber, Daniel Cormier, and Matt Hughes. Tickets range in price from $40 to $400.
The Summerfest grounds will hold over 66 different musical acts from Thursday through Sunday. Headliners for the Marcus Amphitheater are Toby Keith, Aerosmith, and Kid Rock. A few of the side stage acts are Dropkick Murphys, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Doobie Brothers, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Common, Gin Blossoms, and Maggie Rose. Check Harley’s 110th website for stage times and date of performance. Two day tickets for this event range are $79 and a three day pass is $95. Separate tickets are required for the headlining Marcus acts. Toby Keith tickets are $20 while Aerosmith and Kid Rock tickets start at $24.50.
Hal’s Harley-Davidson in New Berlin will hold festivities with two stages for entertainment from groups like Zach Wade Duo, Soul Kitchen, Nora Collins and Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys. Nine acres of vendors and Harley activities are also available.
The Harley-Davidson Museum on Canal St. will hold ticketed, self guided tours from 9am to 9pm, Thursday through Sunday. Motor, the adjacent bar and resturant, wil be open until midnight Friday, Saturday, and Sunday holding live music on the patio. The museum will hold Harley-Davidson Bike Night on Thursday, a custom bike show on Saturday, and a special “live” closing of the New York Stock Exchange outside Friday afternoon.
House of Harley on Layton Ave. will be rocking from tonight through Monday. The facility has shut down Layton Ave for blocks to hold their anniversary party which includes a pancake breakfast, ping-pong tournament, numerous vendors, and live entertainment. Performing at House of Harley are country singer Chris Cagle, former Staind vocalist turned country artist Aaron Lewis, Beatles cover band The Britins, and former American Idol singer and country act Casey James. All shows are free to the public.
Milwaukee Harley-Davidson built a brand new entertainment stage just for the anniversary. Headlining acts include 80’s rock band Great White and tribute bands saluting Jimi Hendrix, Guns N Roses, and more. Additional entertainment will be found in a swim up bar, stunt show, and more. This party is geared towards adults and is not considered family friendly.
North of the city on the shores of Lake Michigan, Port Washington will hold their Rock The Harbor fest on Friday. The block party will take place in historic downtown and will feature country singer Darryl Worley. The festival runs from 3pm to 11pm.
Free street parties will happen on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Headlining the street party on Milwaukee St. Saturday night is christian rock act POD at 9:30pm. Headlining Sunday evening’s Water Street party is alternative rock act Puddle of Mudd at 8:30pm.
