Coconut Point’s popular New Year’s weekend art festival returns December 28–29, 2013. The annual art fair gives residents and winter visitors the opportunity to stroll spacious aisles as they explore the work of more than 250 of the finest artists in the country. With art priced from $30 to $30,000, the eclectic display of art is priced to suit all budgets and will appeal to collectors as well as casual shoppers looking for unique gift items.
Artistic media represented at the Coconut Point Art Festival include original paintings, life-size sculptures, photography, glass, wood, jewelry, collage and mixed media works of art. The festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, December 28 – 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the west parking area of Coconut Point shopping plaza. There is no charge for admission and parking is also free.
As an added inducement to come out this year, those attending the two-day juried show will be able to register to win artwork by exhibiting artist Debbie Hummel-Marconi. Often whimsical, Hummel-Marconi’s paintings have been described as narratives. Her work has been purchased for jigsaw puzzles, greeting cards and has even hung in the White House. Her art can be seen at first-class festivals throughout Florida and is collected internationally.
The prize is a 24” x 38” gallery-wrapped embellished canvas giclee titled Oliver Twist? Numbered 2/500, it is valued at $700. The giclee will be on display at Debbie’s booth throughout the weekend where registration will also take place until 4:00 pm on Sunday when the winning ticket will be drawn. No purchase is necessary to participate in the give-away.
Volunteers of Keep Lee County Beautiful, a civic organization dedicated to protecting the environment and improving the quality of life in Lee County, will also be on hand to provide information and answer questions about Lee County’s award winning recycling program and provide tips on how to keep Lee County beautiful.
