A mother’s natural intuition is to protect their children. She wants the best for them and will do whatever it takes to make sure they are safe. But sometimes those decisions hurt the child, especially in the world of soaps. It wasn’t a good day to be a mother on the September 26 episode of “General Hospital”.
She carried a child for nine months for her best friend and her husband. She miscarried the child and conceived her own child with a man she loved. But for Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) she couldn’t hurt her friends and passed off her own child as theirs. Now Maxie is in a world of hurt because she bonded with her child and now has to also live with the pain knowing that she hurt the baby’s father, Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) who is going along with her secret. On Thursday’s episode Lulu (Emme Rylan) surprised Maxie by asking her to be the god mother of baby Connie. This is an important role for Maxie and will also insert her into a permanent position in her own child’s life. Maxie was hesitant at first because of the mess she caused by showing her attachment to the baby. Her unnatural behavior in the eyes of Lulu and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) was actually her natural motherly instincts kicking in. Maxie is far from the worst mother in the world, but the longer she keeps her secret, the deeper the pain when the truth is finally revealed because both Lulu and Dante are getting more and more attached to the baby every day which was evident when Dante ran into Spinelli at Kelly’s. Spinelli instantly showed concern when Dante told him the baby was up all night crying and the pain in Spinelli’s face was clear when Dante mentioned that being a dad is an incredible feeling and that pain in his face turned to instant surprise when Dante asked him to be a god father to baby Connie. Both Maxie and Spinelli want the best for their daughter, but they also don’t want to be responsible for disappointing and hurting two people who were looking forward to parenthood. But how far can they let this secret go? Especially now since they were asked to play important roles in her life.
She had just walked into a room and found out that her son had sex with a woman she despised. Angry, shocked and revengeful, Carly Corinthos Jacks (Laura Wright) is out to destroy the woman who she believes took advantage of her son. At the Metro Court Carly ran into Franco (Roger Howarth) and told him that Ava (Maura West) slept with her son. Franco could tell Carly had a lot of anger to release and told her to release her anger by doing art. Carly was hesitant because she is still very angry and Franco and told him that she would never allow anything to happen between him and her. After finally taking the paintbrush and paint from Franco, she threw the paint on him and told him it was his fault for what happened and that he created the mess by bringing Ava to town. Somehow Franco got to Carly’s heart and got close enough to kiss her. She gave into the temptation at first but pulled away because she knows anything between them would be a mistake. Getting romantically involved with a man who terrorized her family and was responsible for her other son being raped is not something she intended, but for some reason, this version of Franco is slowly winning her over.
She used her daughter to get her hands on Quartermaine money. She also had her daughter believe one man was her father and had it later exposed that her father was another man. To top is all off she was just caught having sex with her daughter’s husband. Ava Jerome will never take home mother of the year and Kiki (Kristen Alderson) let her know it as she walked in on her and Morgan (Bryan Craig) in bed. Both Kiki and Michael (Chad Duell) thought it was disgusting but Morgan used it as his opportunity for revenge on the two. He told Kiki that he was “hitting the sheets with your mom” because he believed Kiki and Michael were probably shacking up all night. Ava didn’t have much to say for her actions, all she could do was try to apologize to her daughter but only received a slap in return as Kiki called her the worst mother on the planet before walking out and having nothing more to do with her. Kiki only knows the half of who Ava is and what she has been up to, but there is a vulnerability being shown in Ava. Whatever it is in her past and whatever happened between her and Silas (Michael Easton) may be playing a role in how she treats her own daughter and also her malicious intent when it comes to other. She is by far the worst mother in Port Charles. Will she ever win her daughter’s trust again?
Elsewhere in Port Charles, Patrick (Jason Thompson) walked in on Carlos and Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) in a close moment at the hospital. Carlos told Patrick that he does want Sabrina back and doesn’t feel Patrick is completely into her. He noticed that Patrick was still wearing his wedding ring and called Sabrina nothing but a “glorified babysitter” who deserves better. Sabrina did stand up to Carlos and told him that he is wrong and that she is just someone he used to know. But it doesn’t look like Carlos is going to give up without a fight.
