The great love story that is Luke and Laura has dissolved over the past few years, but it is a love that is so strong that it, by itself, can accomplish the impossible. At times they have loved others, but each have never been able to duplicate that unbreakable bond they will always have. On the August 28 episode of “General Hospital” Luke (Anthony Geary) said his goodbyes as he set out to save his own life, Britt (Kelly Thibauld) continued to find a friend in Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) and AJ (Sean Kanan) started to remember pieces of his drunken night.
The greatest love story in the history of soaps possibly wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for Scotty Baldwin (Kin Shriner). He will always be Laura’s first love, but on Wednesday’s episode Scott finally realized he “can’t be that guy” who is always chasing a love that can’t be returned one hundred percent. At the hospital, Scotty told Laura that they are not fully invested in their marriage and asked for a divorce. Laura pleaded with Scotty and promised him they could do better. She told him that her and Luke didn’t fit together anymore but Scotty could clearly see where her heart belongs. He married Laura to accomplish the impossible. He married her to try to reestablish their youth, but in reality, what they had will never be what it was before because of the strong bond between Luke and Laura.
Tracy (Jane Elliot) has realized she will never be Luke’s “Laura” a long time ago. She has been able to fill a different part of Luke’s heart. She loves him but will not be the woman who sits around and waits for him. When Luke showed up at the Quartermaine mansion, Tracy slapped him because she has been so worried about him. She thought he was dead and never coming back. She wanted to help him and told him she was upset because she was ready to find the cure with him. Luke told Tracy that he is a “man of his word” and knows that Tracy can’t give up ELQ. They shared a tender moment as Luke said goodbye again, perhaps for the last time. They shared a kiss that symbolized the support Tracy has given Luke over the years. She has been the one person standing by his side and pushing him to care about his life because there are people in his life that need him around. Towards the end of Wednesday’s episode, Luke shared a moment with Lulu (Emme Rylan) who told her father that she overheard him talking to Laura about dying. She told him that he has always been there when she needed him and that she needs him to “keep showing up”. Lulu gave Luke the strength and motivation he needs to go out and do the impossible – find Jerry Jacks and a cure for the poison Helena has injected into his body.
At the hospital Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel) filled in Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) about Britt and her mother Dr. Obrecht. Felix told them that Dr. Obrecht was responsible for poisoning Duke. Patrick became concerned because he doesn’t want his baby being born in prison. Later he went to Anna at the police station to find out more about Britt’s possible involvement with her mother. Meanwhile Nik and Britt continued to bond. Britt thanked Nik for bailing her out because she had no one else to turn to. Nik told her that he will be a friend to her but does honor trust. Later Britt is shown looking at photos of Nik with Emily and admitting to herself that the baby is not Patrick’s. At the end of the episode Patrick showed up to confront Britt.
At the police station, both Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Anna interrogated AJ about the murder of Connie Falconeri. Dante brought up all of AJ’s past misdeeds and continued to emotionally interrogate him. AJ told them that he didn’t remember the night and told them that the only one at the Quartermaine mansion who owns a gun is Tracy. Later AJ remembered grabbing the gun and then confessed to himself and then Michael that he thinks he killed her.
Elsewhere in Port Charles, Luke and Laura said their goodbyes with a kiss. Michael told Elizabeth about AJ being questioned for murder. Elizabeth later remembered AJ telling her he would’ve killed Connie if no one stopped him. Later Nikolas found her crying and said he wouldn’t be surprised if AJ did it. Dante went to the Quartermaine mansion and questioned Tracy about the gun which she discovered is missing.
