There was quite a bit of baby mama drama on the August 30 episode of “General Hospital”. Britt finally told Patrick the truth, but her previous lies made it hard for him to believe her. Maxie’s motherly instinct kicked in when it came to Dante and Lulu’s baby and AJ remembered having a gun which made him think he killed Connie.
Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) has been every bit of the pathological liar that Patrick (Jason Thompson) described her as on Friday’s episode. As Patrick threatened to sue for full custody of the baby she is carrying, Britt confessed to Patrick that he can’t sue for custody because the baby is not his. But with her history of lying, Patrick instantly believed she is telling yet another lie just so he won’t go after custody. Britt told him that the paternity test was faked and that her mother, Dr. Obrecht, was behind it. It is a bit ironic that the one thing Britt is telling the truth about is the one thing that Patrick refuses to believe. The reasoning may be that he has become attached with the idea of being a father, but at the same time, he is looking like a fool when it comes to Britt. Another paternity test will prove that he is not the father, but who is the real father? And is this the beginning of Britt becoming a more sympathetic character?
Speaking of sympathy, Maxie (Kirsten Storms) continues to break the hearts of viewers. Being a surrogate is the most selfless act a woman can do for another, but that same selfless act is now hurting her the most. Maxie’s inability to hurt Lulu (Emme Rylan) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) by telling them she lost their baby has resulted in a bigger secret that will hurt more people. Covering up the fact that she is the baby’s real biological mother is hard to do because her motherly instinct has set in. On Friday, Maxie went to visit her baby girl in the nursery. She held the baby and even received directions by the nurse on how to feed the baby with her own breast milk. As she held the baby , Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) found her and quickly took her back to her room. There he told Maxie he knows about the baby really being theirs and can’t understand how she could do this to Dante and Lulu and most importantly, how she could do it to him. Still, Maxie tried to deny the baby being theirs, but Maxie is really not good at lying to those she cares about most. Her eyes and body language are usually a giveaway and also the fact that Spinelli knows her better than anyone else. The two of them have been through a lot emotionally and it looks as though they are about to travel down a very emotional road that will be filled with many hurdles of emotional pain and disappointment.
If there is a motive for murder, AJ (Sean Kanan) has it. Connie running the story about Kiki not being a Quartermaine destroyed his chances of running ELQ which to AJ also destroyed his chances at real relationships with his son Michael (Chad Duel) and his girlfriend Elizabeth. On Friday, AJ remembered taking the gun from the Quartermaine safe and believes he killed Connie. He told Michael that he has “to confess” to a crime he doesn’t remember but there is so much evidence against him that even he believes he did it and add in the fact that Connie wrote his name in blood. But just before he could confess, Diane stopped him and went over the things that he remembered. AJ not only remembered taking the gun, he remembered going to Crimson and yelling at Connie before blacking out. AJ definitely had the motive and opportunity, but the evidence is still missing. The gun is nowhere to be found and will be the key to whether AJ actually pulled the trigger or was it someone else. AJ’s current situation is creating a stronger bond with Michael who is staying by his father’s side. Michael was able to make AJ smile by calling him “dad”.
Elsewhere in Port Charles, Dante told Lulu about Connie’s murder and that AJ is a suspect. Lulu reflected on when she first met Connie. Later they went to the nursery and found out that Maxie visited the baby which concerned them. Ava (Maura West) showed up at the boathouse and told Kiki and Morgan about the murder. Later, after Kiki left, Ava had a conversation with Morgan about him marrying her daughter. Morgan said he had to out of desperation and his fear that Kiki would run to Michael. Ava threatened Morgan that she will tell Kiki the truth if he didn’t. Kiki went to see Michael at the police station and asked him if he thinks AJ was capable of murder. Outside the boathouse Morgan found the missing gun.
