Paul Bedard and Jimmy Wiffle were back to their normal Florida routine in the Aug. 11 episode of “Gator Boys” on Animal Planet. There was one rescue, however, that sure looked a lot like Mississippi mud! The homeowner was watering his yard and left the gate open. An alligator wandered in, so he called the Gator Boys Alligator Rescue. Jimmy and Paul did a lot of that dangerous slipping and sliding around in the mud that made viewers so nervous last season as they worked to catch this alligator.
Another deja vu moment from Mississippi was Tre driving an airboat and getting stuck again. Tre came to Paul and Jimmy and told them he had to have some paying work to keep doing what he loved with the Gator Boys team. He learned to drive an airboat in Mississippi, and, despite his little problem getting stuck, he aspires to be an airboat captain.
Tre thought he would have to move to another locale to do that, but Jimmy and Paul pulled some strings and got him an interview for airboat tours through the Everglades Holiday Park. He struggled a little in the interview when he mentioned the “getting stuck” incident. His first time out with the boss didn’t go too well, either; Tre drove the airboat right into the grass and got stuck!
Paul talked the boss into giving Tre another chance. He told him about how long he had worked for him as a reliable volunteer and never been late. It turns out that Tre gave a great airboat tour, and all the team from Gator Boys was there to cheer him on.
He was truly a natural at this job, and he engaged the audience with information and entertainment. Of course, he got the job and the customary toss in the water by the other airboat captains.
As usual, there was a lot of other stuff going on during the hour on “Gator Boys.” Scott got a bad whack by a gator’s tail that knocked him on the ground. The team gagged and spit trying to clean out the gator pits for new liners. Truly, viewers with a weak stomach needed to leave the room for a few minutes.
The guys and gals at Gator Boys Alligator Rescue do seem to be comfortable back in their familiar environment in the sand and the sun. Chris, Ashley’s boyfriend, has never shown back up. Let’s hope he’s not lost and wandering the swamps of Mississippi.
