According to a report today from VG 24/7, Capcom producer Mike Jones said gamers won’t see the same zombie twice in the upcoming Xbox One exclusive Dead Rising 3.
Because the zombies are procedurally generated, Jones told CVG each zombie will have its own unique look during the game.
“You’ll never see the same zombie twice. It’s all procedurally generated –– hairstyles, clothing, colors, textures. And the gore is too –– missing jaws, missing eyes,” Jones said. “It’s all totally dynamic. That’s a whole system we built”
Jones said the Capcom development team didn’t just model the zombies, but they had to model the individual pieces and the system puts them together.
Not only does Dead Rising 3 feature unique zombies, Jones said, but the development team worked to create a gaming world that didn’t use any cookie-cutter elements.
Things like geometry and textures to building exteriors and interiors, which often were reused in previous Dead Rising games, will be completely made from scratch in Dead Rising 3, according to Jones.
“You’re looking at more custom work and less reuse. We’re not using the same textures over and over again, nor are we using the same geometry over and again. Every building and every interior in Dead Rising 3 is hand made and hand crafted. You’ll never see the same building twice,” Jones said.
Dead Rising 3 hits shelves as an Xbox One exclusive when the next-gen console launches on Nov. 22 in the U.S. and 12 other markets.
