September 5-8, 36th Annual Greek Festival
Time: Thursday 6 pm-midnight, Friday 11.30 am – Midnight, Saturday 12 noon – midnight, Sunday 12 noon -8pm
Location: St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 721 Rahway Avenue Union, New Jersey
This is a family event featuring the foods and sounds of Greece. Indulge in the homemade, authentic Greek food, including moussaka (layered sliced eggplant and ground beef topped with Béchamel cream sauce baked to a golden brown) pastitsio (layered macaroni and ground beef topped with Béchamel Sauce baked to a golden brown), roasted leg of lamb, chicken riganati, as well as souvlaki and gyro. Appetizers include Greek salad with Feta cheese and olives, tiropites (cheese puffs), spanakopites (spinach puffs), dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and meatballs.
There will also be homemade, tasty desserts and pastries.
To complete your taste of Greece, sip Retsina (white Greek wine) or Ouzo. Enjoy the sounds of Greece with live music and authentic Folk dancing, featuring dance groups of all ages. A zeibekiko dance contest will be held on Saturday evening, featuring a prize from The Greek Store of Kenilworth. Also free Greek folk dancing lessons will be given throughout the festival.
The Greek Import Boutique will feature a variety of imported goods, jewelry, vases and many other articles from Greece. Additional vendors will be selling hand-made copper and silver work, oil paintings, jewelry, and other items. Finally, don’t forget to bring the kids. The festival features rides and games.

September 6-8, Asbury Park Annual Oysterfest,
Time: Friday: 5 pm – 10 pm, Saturday: 12 pm – 10 pm, Sunday: 12 pm – 6 pm
Location: Carousel Building, 700 Ocean Ave. Asbury Park
This three-day family oriented culinary event will be held just outside the iconic Carousel building where the downtown meets the Asbury Park waterfront. Oysters, seafood & traditional festival fare will be available from over 25 vendors including Mumford’s, Tiger’s Tale, Lusty Lobster, Red Hook Lobster, Bacon on Wheels and Ike’s Famous Crab cakes. Beer, wine and fun soft drinks will be available throughout the festival. There will be more than 60 vendors offering craft and live music from several bands.
There will also be food, activities and rides for children of all ages.
The event is dog friendly.

September 8, Seafood in Seaside festival

The Seafood in Seaside Festival will include mouth watering seafood specialties from local restaurants, including, Ryan’s Deli and Catering, Luna Derosa, Hemingway’s Cafe, The Greek Peak, On Top of Spaghetti and many more. September 22, 4th annual Red Bank Guinness Oyster Festival, Rain date September 29
Time: 12-7 pm
Location: White Street Parking Lot (Behind the Dublin House), Red Bank. This will be a huge food and music festival which will showcase Red Bank’s excellent restaurants as well as entertain thousands with continuous live music on two stages. It is also family friendly with activities for the kids.
The event will also be a culinary feast! There will be tons of fresh Oysters.
