Are you satisfied with your current floral arrangements ? Don’t you feel bored with your floral designs ? If you are tired of making a regular kind of flower arrangements and looking for something new which you have not yet experienced, OR if you are looking for a new horizon in flower arrangements, the information stated below MAY draw your attention:
As far as you engage in floral arrangements in the same environment as before OR so long as you depend on the conventional method of floral decorations, it is very difficult for you to find or create a new style of floral designs with which you can make a difference.
Unless you introduce something new with your floral arrangements you cannot make a difference. Unless you show highly sophisticated way of arranging, you cannot appeal the difference. As far as you follow established convention in floral arrangements, it is totally impossible to create something new with your floral decorations.
For those who are interested in challenging new style and sophisticated floral arrangements, I would like to introduce the under mentioned way:
If you have been working on American or European flower arrangements so far, it is a good idea to try an entirely different nature of floral art such as Ikebana arrangement that is made with totally different design concept. Not only the history but also the philosophy behind Ikebana is quite different compared with European or American style of floral arrangement.
I can briefly introduce some of typical differences which can be found in Ikebana arrangement as follows:
*Tool used for arrangements: Using Kenzan (frog: needlepoint holder to hold flowers. The role of this device is floral foam used for European arrangement and it can be used for a lifetime period) and Suiban (shallow type container specifically designed for Ikebana and totally different from regular vase used for European arrangement).
*Materials and elements: Other types of elements such as curly willow, fern, horse tail and some other greeneries can be often featured in Ikebana arrangement. Sometimes flowers and flower petals are not used at all and the decoration is filled with non flower elements.
*Line arrangement: While European floral design often made with mass arrangement, Ikebana mainly features line arrangement.
*Asymmetric way of arrangement: Most of European designs are made with symmetric arrangement, many of Ikebana arrangement is made with asymmetric decoration.
At the same time, for those who have been engaged in only Ikebana arrangement, it is recommended to learn European floral designs. Recently we can find flower arrangements blending European designs and Japanese Ikebana. Since totally different nature of designs are mixed, it makes creative decorations that could not be found so far. By adopting asymmetric line arrangement from Ikebana arts, new concept of design can be created. And it looks like this sort of arranging style may be becoming one of streams of floral decoration in the near future.
If you are looking for a new style of arrangement with which you can make a difference, blending European and Japanese arrangement is one of ways you can try. By way of adopting two different nature of arrangement, you MAY find a new horizon in your floral art. I am not talking about avant-garde floral arrangements that were introduced by limited number of floral artists.
