The Sonoma Wine Country Weekend is expected to be a sell out! The weekend is packed with winemakers lunches and dinners all around the county on Friday and Saturday and culminates at MacMurray Ranch in Healdsburg’s Westside Road for the Grand Tasting, the 34th annual, A Taste of Sonoma. The weekend’s festivities are a Visa Signature event, so if you have one of those you should take advantage of their special pricing.
Many of the winemakers dinners, luncheons and other special events are already sold out. The good news is that some very special venues do remain available. Some of the participating wineries host BBQ’s through the weekend so that is another fun opportunity.
MacMurray Ranch has been the home of “A Taste of Sonoma” for all 34 years and Kate MacMurray (Actor Fred’s daughter) remains engaged at the MacMurray Ranch, one of the many wineries owned by the Gallo family! The event, one of the top 10 of the Best Food and Wine events in the United States according to Celebrated Living Magazine, features more than 170 wineries and 60 chef’s from Sonoma County representing their various appellations. Pairing food with the wine is standard for the day and this setting surrounded by trees and vineyards is virtually impossible to match.
During the weekend, participants experience first-hand the diversity and world-class quality of the region’s artisanal wine and food and distinctive epicurean experiences. Three main events, Sonoma Starlight at Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Taste of Sonoma at MacMurray Ranch, and the Sonoma Harvest Wine Auction at Chateau St. Jean, are the signature attractions, supplemented by intimate Winery Luncheons, Dinner Parties, and Barbecues taking place all over Sonoma County.
This is the largest Sonoma County charity event and premier wine and food event, celebrating the region’s incredible bounty of food, wine, and fun. The event raises much needed funds for Sonoma’s local charities.
Sonoma Wine Country Weekend was established in 2008 by combining the Sonoma County Showcase of Wine & Food with the Sonoma Valley Harvest Wine Auction into one weekend and joined the forces of their two sponsoring organizations, Sonoma County Vintners and Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers Alliance to create a full weekend of additional events.
The history of MacMurray Ranch is wrapped up in Sonoma wine country and the film history made by Fred MacMurray. Daughter Kate is still intimately involved at the ranch and winery although the property and label are now part of the Gallo collection.
