Sunday night will see the culmination of five years of milquetoast chemistry teacher turn villainous meth dealer on AMC’s hit Emmy winning TV drama ‘Breaking Bad’. All around the country people are gathering in homes to catch the final episode and throwing ‘Breaking Bad’ parties. Ready to throw your own?
Set the mood for your ‘Breaking Bad’ party with ‘money’ candles because if you had 80 million dollars like Walter White you could spare to burn a few bucks. To make these all you need is some round candles, fake money and some paraffin wax. Just dip the money into the paraffin and affix to the outside of the candle. Also make sure you have plenty of crime tape to cordon off areas of your party, preferably surrounding your fat stacks of money (again stacks of play money) you just happen to have lying around. Lastly some purple balloons are a great way to pay tribute to Marie and her loss of her big guy, Hank. Make sure your guests dress for the part with Walt inspired pork pie hats, yellow hazmat suits, gas masks or monochromatic colors in honor of their favorite character unless of course it’s Flynn/Walt Jr and in that case stripes is the way to dress.
Now on to the food which honestly is probably the best way to show off your ‘Breaking Bad’ theme. Start the evening off with a Gustavo Fring inspired Paila Marina (recipe here) or some fried chicken a la Pollos Hermanos with a side of tater tots with Franch (French/Ranch dressing), . Make sure you have some snacks on hand for those who prefer something lighter like some Jesse inspired Funnyuns or some Hank inspired Cheetos. Lastly to honor Walt’s love of peanut butter and jelly why not serve some peanut butter and jelly cookies(recipe here)? For desert, have some blue rock candy on hand or decorate cupcakes with blue Pop Rocks. Check out these printables for your table with ‘Breaking Bad’ inspired menu items to decorate your table with and for your guests who want to take a doggie bag home with them don’t forget these Pollo Hermanos bag printables. Use some of the blue rock candy as decorations as well on your food table.
As for drinks, for the older crowd make sure you serve some Schraderbrau beer. This is nothing more than regular beer with printable labels available here. For a ‘Breaking Bad’ inspired Blue Magic cocktail made with Curacao, gin, rum and absinthe click here. Prefer to make a Hesienberg with gin, bitters and scotch then click here and of course you have to have a classic ‘Breaking Bad’ margarita so click here for the recipe.
If you happen to have non alcohol drinkers at your party an alternative beverage to serve is this recipe for Raspberry Pineapple Slush. Just click here for the recipe. Alternatively you can always serve blue Gatorade, just make sure that you throw some Jesse inspired lines in there whenever someone reaches for one!
Now that you have all your key ingredients together for your ‘Breaking Bad’ series finale party it’s time to kick back relax and enjoy the final moments of one of TV’s greatest dramas.
