Do you know your body type? It might sound like a fashionista question, but in reality, said Dr. Mehmet Oz on his October 31 talk show, understanding your body type can help you prevent disease, boost your health and even facilitate weight loss.
Here’s the skinny:
- You’re a triangle type if you gain weight in your thighs, hips and derriere. Beat the bulges by cutting down on meat. For example, you might try a plant-based diet one day a week, and swap that steak for fish another day.
- Too much weight around your waist? Measure your waistline to check if it’s larger than 31.5 inches. If so, you need to take steps to reduce your risk for some types of cancer. You’ll need to buy wasabi paste and powder, which is available in some grocery stores and health food stores. Makes 1/3 cup
- 1 tbsp chopped green onions
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp grated lemon rind
- 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tsp honey
- 1 1/4 tsp prepared wasabi paste
- 1 tsp grated peeled fresh ginger
Combine all ingredients and stir with a whisk.
Makes 2 cups
- 2 cups fresh peas (thawed frozen ones will also work)
- 2 tbsp canola oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Sea salt
- 1/4 cup wasabi paste (made from below ingredients)
- 2 tsp wasabi powder
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp corn starch
- 1 tsp water
Preheat the oven to 200°F (or use a dehydrator).
Coat a large baking sheet with canola oil. Transfer the peas to the baking sheet and move them around in the oil. Season with sea salt, mustard powder and garlic powder.
Bake for 6 hours on the lowest oven setting you have, stirring every 30 minutes, or until the peas are dry.
In a large bowl, mix together the wasabi powder, rice vinegar, water and corn starch. When the peas are dried out and ready, pour them into the bowl and coat them with the mixture.
Pour the peas back onto the baking sheet (or dehydrator) and bake for another 10 to 20 minutes, or until the peas are crisp and completely dry. When peas are completely cool and dry, store in a sealed jar until ready to eat.
