Many parents no longer send children out into the neighborhoods to participate in trick-or-treating on Halloween. Families choose to have a great Halloween party in their home with friends and family, or participate in safe trick-or-treating activities that are sponsored by community organizations. many churches also sponsor safe trick-or-treating for children in the community. Malls in the community often sponsor safe trick-or-treating by having the children visit merchants in the mall to receive treats. Parents always have the opportunity to have treats x-rayed for safety at the mall events.
Sarasota has several safe trick-or-treating activities planned for October. One of the events in the Photo List has a cost of $4 per child. One of the trick-or-treating events that is sponsored by an organization in the community is giving trick-or-treaters the opportunity to give back to the community by offering free admission to families who bring food items to the event that will be donated to a local food bank for the holidays. Trick-or-treaters are invited to dress in costumes for each event in the Photo List.

The Children’s Garden is sponsoring a child-friendly safe trick-or-treating activity on October 27 from 5-6 p.m. Children are invited to wear their costume and trick-or-treat through the garden. Families are asked to bring food items for the food drive in place of admission charge. Donated food will go to All Faith’s Food Bank in Sarasota. Happy jack-o-lanterns for Halloween
The George Mullen activity Center at 1602 Kramer Way in the Northport area of Sarasota is sponsoring a safe trick-or-treating activity for ages 2-5 on October 24 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. The cost for this activity is $4 per child. Children are invited to wear their costume. Cookie decorating, a costume contest, and lots of photo opportunities will make this a fun experience for preschoolers. Safe trick or treating for the little ones
Siesta Key Village in Sarasota will sponsor a safe trick-or-treating event on October 31 from 3-6 p.m. The Village is located along Ocean Blvd. in Sarasota. Participating merchants and restaurants will offer safe treats to the kids. Participating merchants and restaurants will display balloons and flyers in their windows to signal their participation. This family event is sponsored by the Siesta Key Association.
